Chapter 22

When I walk back into the lounge I find Kia alone sitting on the couch.

"So are you ready to talk?"

I ask her and she nods as I sit on the other couch

"I lost my sister today"

She says and I look at her dumbstruck

"I didn't mean to stay here but I received the news as I was about to leave your place. I'm sorry for being a creep"

She says, I stretch my hand and place it on her knee

"I'm really sorry about your sister Kiara"

She lets out a sob

"It hurts Aaron, she and I weren't in good terms"

She says sobbing even more. I get up from the couch and sit beside her comforting her hugging

"I'm sorry about your sister. What happened to her?"

I ask her because I really never know how to comfort someone who has lost a loved one

"She was butchered by her husband"

I gasp in shock

"Kia I am so sorry for your loss"

I say brushing her arm and her sobs increase. Just then Mia walks in with a cup in her hand. She looks at me and mouths asking what's going on and I shake my head no

"Here"

Mia says

"It's chamomile tea, it should make you feel a bit calm"

Mia says placing the cup on the table.

"Thanks Mia"

I say

"I'm going to leave now"

Mia says and I frown confused, she nudges at Kiara who is buried in my chest crying silently

"Don't leave on my account. I'm sorry to have disturbed you guys"

Kia says peeling herself off my chest with hiccups wiping her tears

"I should leave now"

Kia says

"No you didn't disturb anything. I just have to get going. It was nice seeing you again and I hope you get better"

Mia says and quickly walks out

"I'm really sorry Aaron for showing up unannounced. Thing is you said if I ever needed you, you'd be available"

She says making me feel a little guilty

"It's fine but please, next time call before you show up here Kia. Let me call you a cab ok? Did you drive here?"

She shakes her head

"No, I came via a cab. I'm sorry for everything"

I shake my head no

"Don't apologise please. I'm sorry for kicking you out but I have to pack for my trip and I still have a lot of things I haven't packed. Will you be ok at your place? I can call Mark to meet you at your place?"

She shrugs

"Thank you Aaron. I should leave"

She says getting up

"Let me get my phone and call you a cab ok?"

I say and then stand up, as I am about to walk past her she grabs my arm

"Thank you Aaron"

She says and I smile and nod, she lets go and I head on upstairs and find Mia packing her things. I take my phone and then walk over to her
