Chapter 35

TWO YEARS LATER
I'd love to lie and say I actually slept instantly that night but nope, I never did. Instead I ended up going through Asante's instagram and she hadn't posted anything new in months. No stories, no nothing just the same only pictures I saw, dont know why that got to me but it did. I miss her, I'm trying to be a good boyfriend to Liv but with me constantly thinking about Asante it's not easy.

The last time I was home I was fortunate enough to not see her, I had back to back tours so I just didnt get time to play around and to chill. I needed to stick to me staying away from her.

Things between Liv and I have been good, we argue every now and then but it's nothing too hectic that we cant move past. it's been chaotic trying to find a balance between our careers because now she's in too deep into the music and I'm really happy for her and I'm proud of her but now the problem is shes changing. I dont know if I'm the one seeing things that aren't there but it feels like shes switching up on me so really I dont know what's what.
Today we were fortunate enough to not both be extremely busy for each other, her next tour is in 2 months and my contract with Columbia is set to expire soon, they've asked to renew it but I don't know how I feel about renewing it yet. I have a month to decide what I want to do.
She gets off me and lays her head on my chest and wrap an arm around her. I stretch my hand to check my phone and I have a couple of texts but it's my sister's one that catches my eye. I take the remote and switch on the tv
"Baby no TV in the bedroom"
She says, I brush her hair
"I know, theres news I just want to see and then I'll switch it off I promise"
I say and kiss her forehead
"What news are those?"
She asks
"My sisters team made it to the finals in the international Hockey tournament. Just want to see if her team made it"
I explain
"Wow that's huge. She must be excited, why didnt you tell me?"
She asks
"I did tell you, it must have slipped your mind"
I say
"Did you atleast go watch her play?"
She asks
"I couldn't. I was in another country at the time"
I say and she doesnt respond
"Actor, musician and dancer Aaron Langa is said to be going back home. After 3 years residing in the United States of America signed to Columbia Records, we received word that the multitalen-"
I change the channel when she grabs the remote and returns to the news. She sits up
"I was going to tell you"
I start off but she increases the volume
"A very reliable source has confirmed that Mr Langa's terms was that he move back to his home country while still under their label. What happens from here, we don't know. We can only wait and pray that they reach a decision that will work for all parties involved. We wish you luck Aaron Langa"
The news lady says.
"On other entertainment news-"
She mutes the tv turning to me
"I thought you were renewing your contract?"
She says and I shrug
"I miss home Liv. We can make the distance work or you can come to South Africa with me a-"
I'm disturbed by my phone and it's my boss from the label. I answer the call
"I'm sure you must have been watching the news"
He says
"Yes. There werent supposed to be any announcements until the deal pulled through. Until we reached an agreement"
I say and he takes a deep breath and let's it out
"Yes I know and I'm truly Sorry but I'm going to need you to come to the label today so that we can finalize everything. I have an opening at 10"
He says and I look at the time on screen and its still 8am
"Fine. I'll be there in an hour"
I say and we end the call
"You leaving?"
She asks
"We have to do damage control. I have to shower and then we can talk about this over lunch"
I say and kiss her head then make my way to the shower. When I come back I find her laying in bed covering herself with the bed spread
"Liv please. This is also not easy for me, having to return home permanently after 3 years. I don't want to leave but I'm home sick and I'm missing out on a lot back at home."
I say and she doesnt respond. I let out a sigh and leave her be. Increasing the volume on the news and I'm happy to see that my sister's team won the cup. I take my phone and call her
"Hello Lady of the match"
She laughs it off
"Hey bro. How are you?"
She asks
"I just saw the news. Si this is huge! Why didnt you tell me?"
I ask and she chuckles
"Cause you were busy. Well you know now"
She says
"You're annoying. I'm proud of you. Congratulations Si, so how much do I need to send into your account?"
I ask and she laughs. Growing up at home our parents always used to promise us what we wanted badly in order to motivate us to do well in a couple of things and not just school but also house chores so I went on to do the same and promised her money if she won lady of the match.
"We'll discuss it when you come home. When are you coming home?"
She asks sounding excited
"I'll be home in 2 weeks. I cant wait to see you guys and just bond"
She laughs
"Now I really cant wait for you to come home. Listen I have to go, my team and I are going out to celebrate before we hit the road"
She says
"Have fun. Bye Si"
I say and we end the call. Hearing how happy she is makes my decision all the while worth it. I miss my family all too much. I switch the tv off and finish off getting dressed and the uncover Liv who is now sleeping and kiss her forehead and take my things and leave. I buy something to eat on the way to the label.
I am happy to say that they agreed to my terms. If I stay with them as an artist then they let me work from home with our home producers and do features with international artists. I've missed working with Azure anyway and Andile. But my videos will mostly be shot this side and so will my tours. I couldn't be happier to go home after being here for so long.
As I am walking out of the building I'm hounded by a flock of people taking pictures of me and asking me questions I cant even hear but one question catches my attention
"Mr Aaron, are you leaving because your girlfriend has been cheating on you?"
He asks and I stop
"Huh?"
I say
"What do you have to say about the video of your girlfriend and her drummer that surfaced?"
He asks again and I push past him saying "no comment" and get into my car while they make it difficult. I answer my ringing phone and it's my publicist
"Tell me what I've just been asked is not true. What video?"
I ask her and she sighs
"A sex tape surfaced about 30 minutes ago, it's pretty graphic"
