Author's note:

Up until now we have been in that brief two week period between the killing of the Saviors in the satellite building and the Saviors cornering our favorite group on their way to Hilltop. However, within this chapter we are now in the beginning of season seven.

Hope y'all enjoy.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

There hasn't been any savior activity in Hilltop since Rick's group allegedly killed them all. Your Uncle Gregory seemed to be pleased with the outcome until he realized you had vanished along with Jesus. He never really liked Jesus, probably because Gregory is selfish and Jesus is the total opposite. However, you know it's because Jesus stands up to him and bluntly speaks his mind not caring what Gregory says.

A part of you knew that when you got back to Hilltop it would be Jesus who gets in trouble instead of you. You also know that Jesus doesn't mind it and he would rather take the blame then watch you flinch every time Gregory raises his voice.

"How dare you take her outside of these walls?" Gregory basically yells at Jesus as you stand in the hall of the Barrington House. "You know she's not supposed to leave."

"The saviors are dead, Gregory, you can't keep her in here forever." Jesus just stands slightly inside the doorway with his arms crossed.

"She is hurt!"

"She'll be fine."

"Get out of my sight." Gregory blantly says pointing towards the main hall. Jesus does as Gregory instructs and leaves his office, shutting the doors behind him.

"Let's take you to Dr. Carson." Jesus says and grabs your arm to help you walk down to the doctor's trailer.

You sit down on the examination table inside of Dr. Carson's trailer and start to take the bandage wrap off your leg.

"How has your leg been today?" Dr. Carson asks as he sits on a stool and examines your knee after you get the bandage wrap fully off.

"It's been fine." You smile down at him, "I can walk normally now."

"That's good to hear." He grabs your foot and makes you straighten your leg then makes you bend it again. "Well, it looks a lot better, the swelling has gone down and your knee doesn't seem to agitated with the movement."

"So, am I allowed to go on supply runs and help out around the camp more?"

"I would try to keep your activities limited for now," Dr. Carson stands up from the stool and walks to the other side of the trailer, "but soon enough yes."

You smile as you stand up from the examination table and start to walk towards the door. "Thanks, doc."

"(Y/N)," You stop and turn to face Dr. Carson again. "you still need to wrap your leg, just in case your knee cap decides to shift."

You roll your eyes and move to grab your bandage wrap then walk back to the Barrington House.

~ 2 days later ~

In the early morning the sound of a car horn and someone yelling wakes you up. You quickly stand up from your bed and run to your window seeing the gates fly open. With the early morning sun shining through your window you can't see the car or the people getting out of it. You run through your room and change your clothes and throw your hair up. You rush out of your room and down the stairs, but you are brutally stopped by Jesus.

"Stay inside." He stands in front of the door with concerned eyes.

"Why?" You ask as wonder and fear crawl into your mind, "What's wrong?"

"Just stay in here."

You nod, then Jesus rushes out the door.

. . .

It's not until an hour later that Jesus comes up to your room and knocks on your door. You open and see his face contorted with sadness and worry.

"What's wrong?" You ask dropping your hand from your door.

"You were right." Jesus slowly walks past you and sits on your bed, your eyes following his every step. "They didn't kill all of them."

You sit on your bed next to him. "What are you talking about?"

"The saviors," Jesus looks at you, "they're alive."

Your eyes widen. You didn't want to be right.

. . .

Jesus takes you down to back corner of the walls where you see Sasha shoveling dirt onto a body, another already in the ground. When she finishes burying the body she drops the shovel and falls to the ground. You and Jesus rush to her and grab her arms. She fights out of your grip.

"Come on Sasha," Jesus says crouching down beside her, "you're exhausted. You've gotta sleep."

She just sits there staring at the graves. You eventually sit down next to her and look from her to the graves.

"Losing someone you care about is hard." You say, "I lost my mom at the start of all this," you glance over at Sasha, who's still staring at the graves with blank eyes, "it took me months to be able to sleep, longer to be able to grieve, and I still have the memories of it torturing me at night." You see a single tear fall from her eyes.

Sasha breaks her stare from the graves and looks at you. "Does it get easier?"

"You would think so, but not really." She looks back at the graves, "But knowing that you're strong enough to face it and be able to continue living is what helps."

You stand up as you hear her almost chuckle as she wipes the single tear off her face.

"Living when so much is lost, that'll be fun." You offer her your hand to help her stand up, she takes it. When she gets to her feet you ask; "What's been lost?"

. . .

Sasha tells you and Jesus everything. From Denise's death to the saviors trapping them on the road. She says that it was like a game for Negan and he enjoyed it, so did the rest of them that just watched. Next, she tells you about how Negan used 'eenie meenie miney mo' to pick who he was going to kill. Her voice cracks as she tells you, he landed on Abraham and bashed his head in, making jokes as he struck him.

She stops for a second. Daryl hit Negan for him tormenting Rosita. She voice broke once more. Then he killed Glenn slowly, continuing to hit him even after he was dead, leaving everyone in tears and disbelief.

She stops again, then continues. Negan disappeared with Rick for a time, after Rick told him he would kill him, and brought Rick back just to try to force him to cut off Carl's arm. Then after seeing  the fear in Rick's eyes he took Daryl, and Negan and all his men left like nothing happened.

At first you don't want to believe what you're hearing, but you know you have to. Negan is a murderer and he gets a thrill from it, you've seen it before. But after talking with him for a year, forced or not, you've grown to know him and feel safe around him. You shiver at your thoughts of him. Then you clinch your right index finger within your left hand as you remember that Sasha said Negan took Daryl.
