Though your knee is throbbing you continue to pace. It's been a little over four hours since Jesus left. And it's been almost an hour since you read the note from Negan.
A part of you is still trying to remember what happened between Jesus and Andy when Negan first brought Andy back here. But your mind is also swarmed by the thoughts of Daryl and what he might be going through.
You could use a distraction even if it's just something small. You remember that Jesus gave you your throwing knives back when you got here a few days ago. You grab all three of them from the small wooden box you keep them in which sits on top of your desk.
You make your way out of your room, down all the stairs, and out of Barrington House. You used to go to the back corner so you were less likely to hit anyone, but since Sasha buried Glenn and Abraham back there, you decide to throw them at the small hole in the wall. The spot is about ten feet away from the trailers and only a curve away from the front gate.
You throw each knife, one after the other. Only one misses your targeted hole. You walk the two feet and pull them out of the wooden wall. You stand three feet away now and throw them again. All three hit your targeted hole. You walk back up to the knives and pull them out.
You repeat this cycle over and over again, every time taking steps to further yourself from the wooden wall. What you wasn't expecting was for memories to flood through your mind as you throw them.
'One.' sounds through your mind. Your first scared memory floods in. You had hidden in your closet so your pops wouldn't find you. He had been drinking and he was never nice after drinking. He didn't know you were in the closet until he hit Andy so hard that he sent him flying into your closet's sliding door. You yelped when it happened, giving yourself away.
'Two.' echoes through your mind next. The first time you stood up to your pops rushes in. You had already been struck three times, which made your mother step in. Though right when she did your pops went at her. He hit her a few good times before she fell to the floor and he started kicking her. You could hear the grunts and gasps for air in between his kicks. When you saw that he didn't stop after the fourth kck like normal you stood up and ran at him. You punched him pretty hard in the face, but it didn't take him long to recooperate and twist your arm so far behind your back that he broke your forearm.
'Three.' whispers through your head as you throw your last knife. But before any of your memories come flooding in, you hear a motor. A motorcycle motor.
The motor turns off just outside the gate. You can feel your heartbeat quicken with anticipation.
"Open the gates!" One of the guys at the top of the wall yells down to the people around the gates.
"Who is it Trevor?" You hear Gregory yell from the doorway of Barrington House.
"It's Jesus!" The guy yells back, leaving Gregory to roll his eyes and go back inside.
'Just Jesus?' You wonder, 'Jesus doesn't know how to drive a motorcycle,' You start to walk to the gates, 'does he?'
You see Jesus walk through the gates with a smile on his face. He finds you walking towards him and his smile just gets bigger. You smile at Jesus and get ready to run up and hug him. But your whole body stops when you see him.
You watch as Daryl pushes the motorcycle through the gates of Hilltop. One of the men takes the bike from him and start to push it to the back of the wall where the tractor sits. Daryl takes a minute to breathe then he straightens up and looks around.
His eyes drift around Hilltop taking in the familiarity, then those blue eyes stop on you. You fight your urge to cry when you see him sadly smile at you. Your lips shake into a smile and your eyes hold back your tears as you bolt for him.
You get about a foot away from him and you surprisingly jump at him. Daryl stumbles back as he catches you, but he stays standing. Your legs automatically wrap around his torso as your arms wrap around his neck. You feel his arms tightly hold you against him.
"Thank God." You breathe as you finally let your tears fall.
"God had nothing to do with it." Daryl mumbles from where his face is buried in your shoulder.
As you loosen your grip around his neck and lean back, his arms slowly move so he's holding your lower back as you look at him. Your right hand goes to his dirty face, he leans into your touch as you wipe a single tear from his cheek. Your eyes flash up to his eyes then to his lips, Daryl's eyes do the same to you.
In the heat of that moment the eyes staring at you two don't matter to either of you. Your lips collide with a mixture of passion, longing, and need. But they abruptly part when some of the people of Hilltop cheer.
You giggle lightly as you sheepishly look at Daryl. He smrks as he easily lets go of you. As you turn away from Daryl you see Jesus still smiling widely and clapping along with a few other people.
You keep your eyes on the ground as you reach behind you and grab Daryl's hand pulling him to Barrington House.
After a few steps, Daryl says; "Um, (Y/N)." You glance back at him, telling him you're listening. "Where are we going?"
When you're both inside the building you turn to him and say, "To clean you up."
You see his smirk as you starts to walk a little faster towards Barrington House. When you're finally to the door you start to smile widely.
