I wish I can say I felt better after my return to the house, but parting with Embry made me irritable and very, very anxious. The pain had gone, her mind being the main culprit behind her pacing now.

I could see Jacob tending to Bella, a flicker of jealousy lingering in my chest longer than I care to admit. While it is clear I am supposed to be Embry's soulmate and I am genuinely interested in finding out what that entails, I truly cared for Jake and more than anyone knew.

Confused, on edge, three men swimming in my thoughts, I found myself annoyed by all the fuss they make about Bella. She did this to herself. It was her choice and she can handle the consequences as such.

"She needs more blood." Edward says and I look to him with a glare. Another thing I wanted to scream about is their willingness to feed a human actual blood and what's worse is that its helping.

Maybe Embry was right. Maybe the baby wasn't so innocent.

Yet I still give them all the benefit of the doubt.

"I'm 0 negative. Take mine." I lift my sleeve up readily, happy to help.

One look around the room of shocked vampires showing they are genuinely shocked by my offer is enough to know my offer is unconventional and unexpected. If the blood helps her...why the hell not? I'm contradicting at best, I'm aware.

"She wants to help." Edward translates like I'm not speaking English but a foreign language these centuries old vampires have never heard of.

"Alright." Carlisle smiles as does Bella, silently thanking me for quenching her thirst.

Carlisle beckons me to follow him. I walk slowly, noticing the hunger in their eyes that have long turned black as their souls must be. Is there a soul to begin with? Is there salvation if there is?

Jacob stand in my path, lifting my chin with just his knuckle and with a feather light touch.

"Don't." Its more of a plea than an order, his eyes conveying the same worry his voice carries.

"If I don't, she might die. If a few blood bags helps, why not?" I shrug, trying to maneuver around him, but he blocks my way again.

"If not for me, then for Embry." Jacob tries and I chuckle in disbelief.

"Get out of my way." My laugh now erased from existence, a darker look overtaking my features. Eyes narrowed, lips pressed together, jaw clenched and body tense, I stand proudly as I do bark an order.

"Or what?" He challenges, only awakening the hunter.

Placing both hands on his shoulders, I use it as leverage to forcefully lift my knee straight up and hit him in the jewels. Once he fold over and mutters curses under his breath, I use the chance to kick him to the side and once more to his back.

"That's what." I breathe out, a faint smile on my face. He forced my hand, challenged me to show him I not a chew toy and I did. I always answer a challenge with actions, not words.

Leaving him a crumbling mess on the floor, I turn my back on him and find Rosalie before me and a rather satisfied smirk upon her lips. A curt nod on her behalf is all I get before she steps out the way and let's me pass, Carlisle waiting on the other side of the hall with a things necessary to draw blood.

"You're very kind to do this." Carlisle begins, taking a butterfly shaped plastic surrounding a needle between his thumb and index finger.

Frowning slightly, I swallow the spit that's been collecting on my mouth ever since Jacob stepped over clearly set boundaries.
