Iftia: Lyx Palace, Receiving Room

Elianna

Elianna started pacing the receiving room the moment she realised that Arell ran off on his own again. She could understand that life as a royal may be suffocating on a child who had spent most of his years living freely beyond the Royal Grounds. However, it wasn't safe for him to roam around by himself. She was only furious because Arell had gone out on his own without telling Thunder.

She hadn't gotten a clear grasp of everything that had happened within the Iftia Royal Grounds but the built-up tension over the years had only proven that it would be safer to keep Arell within her proximity. Arell's too dear to her and if anything happened to her child, she wouldn't be able to live through it.

Thunder left in the day and hadn't returned, so she had no choice but to seek Rowan for help. She requested to leave Lyx though Rowan stopped her and went out to search for Arell in her stead. Almost an hour passed, but there wasn't anything relayed to her. Burying her forehead in her hand, she was on the verge of defying Rowan and leaving the palace until footsteps sounded near the door and she quickly rushed towards it.

Rowan entered the room with Arell in his arms and everyone else followed behind. Her gaze quickly focused on her son, realizing that he was looking at her with a sad frown pulling on the corner of his lips and his hands bunched nervously onto Rowan's clothes. A moment before, she was still determined to give this child a good scolding when he returned but at the look of it now, her heart couldn't bear to direct her temper towards him. Smoothing a hand over his dark hair, she only sighed, "You scared me, mea lux."

"I'm sorry, Mother," Arell sobbed, stretching his arms towards her.

Rowan moved him closer to her and wrapped his other arm around her waist, squeezing both of them in his hold. He said in a low voice, "We can't lose you, Arell. Please think through every action carefully."

Elianna placed a small kiss on both her husband's and her son's cheek before removing herself and peered to the side. She asked, "Matthias, Naailah, why are both of you here with Indira?"

"We're here to let you know that my mother learned about Arell now. Please do take precautions on that," Matthias exhaled, settling Naailah down on the cushioned seat. He continued, "I also have a request."

"How?" Elianna gasped. She knew that she wouldn't be able to hide Arell forever, but she had intentionally attempted to delay his introductions for as long as possible to shield him away from any dangers.

"Arell and Thunder came to Nvre to visit Indira. They were present when Her Majesty of Iftia decided to pay a visit," Naailah responded. "I was a step too late to prevent her from entering the nursery. We're sorry, Elianna."

"Please don't apologise," Elianna said, reaching out to rest her hand above Naailah's. "You have no idea that Arell and Thunder were in there."

Silence fell within the receiving room until Elianna turned towards Matthias and asked, "Matthias, you mentioned that you have a request?"
