Part Three: The Confessions

Dad (Lucy's dad): (Le)

C: hey Em, Jamie and Lucy are in the kitchen together 🥰

E: I saw that I hope they get close. Ever since we've met I've wanted those two to get together and now that they are both single this might be our chance!

Le: you two are unbelievable. You are trying to get Lucy to date Jamie? 😂

C: Yes! He is a good man, that won't break her heart. She needs a push. She always finds the wrong guys who don't deserve her and don't treat her how she should be treated.
I have met Jamie a few times now and every time he is a gentleman and I want that for Lucy.

Le: I know Cuc but we can't just push the kids to date each other it is not like back in the day. It's 2018 no one does this.

E: we are not making them get married. We are just introducing them to each other in hopes of them dating 🥰

Le: oh god please do not let them hear this. Knowing Lucy she won't date Jamie's just because we want her to

C: oh trust me. I know that is why I invite him here and not make them go on a date I've learned that the hard way with the last time I tried to set her up.

E: ya I remember that. He was weird though

Connor's POV
After dinner we were all hanging out and I over heard my dad and aunt's conversation with a Emma. They are trying to setup Jamie and Lucy together? He's a nice guy and all but Lucy hates being setup. She'll try to ruin it on purpose. She can't find out about this.
C: hey Nick can you come help me with this?
( he asks nick to come over and and pulls him into another room)

N: hey man what's up?

C: they are trying to setup Jamie and Lucy. We all know how that's going to go. We can't let her find out or she's going to try to ruin i—

L: I'm going to ruin what?

C: oh hey😅 how much of that did you hear?

L: enough to know I'm going to ruin something. So spill what is it?

C: ok we will tell you if you promise not to freak out.

N: you promise?

Lucy nods

C: ok so Cuc and Emma are trying to setup Jamie and you....

Lucy looks at them and laughs

L: you guys are so stupid no they aren't.

N: yes they are! Connor just over heard them talking!

L: omg you're serious. 😂

C: yup

Lucy is in shock. She goes over to where Jamie and his siblings are sitting and doesn't say anything. She just weirdly looks at him.

Lucy's POV

I was in shock. I was staring at him like a crazy person. I'm fully aware. But he's different. He's seems like a good guy compared to the other guys my aunt has tried to set me up with throughout the years. I'm 25 and my family thinks I should have gotten married about 3 years ago. But I'm never been able to actually find anyone that's lasted long enough for me to even think about marriag—

J: hey you ok?

L: ya sorry I kind of zoned out.

J: penny for your thoughts?

Jordie and Jenny were deep in conversation about something and all I could reply to Jamie was.

L: did you know?

Connor and Nick look at me in surprise.

J: know what?

L: that they (pointing at the parents in the other room) are trying to set us up?

J: oh god not again. I'm so sorry I didn't know but my moms been trying to set me up for a while now. She thinks because I'm 28 I should have been married about 5 years ago.

I laugh.

L: it's kind of funny actually. My dad and Cuc said the same thing to me. But I can never seem to like the guys they introduce me to.

J: and what about me?

Jamie's POV
She's different than the others girls. She has dreams and aspirations that she goes after. She isn't just here for my money. I can tell.

When I asked her what she thinks about me. I wasn't sure how she would reply but I was hoping she would reply in a positive way because I like her...

She was thinking. Why was she thinking for so long?

L: ummmm well I don't really know you to not like you. But I don't know you well enough to say I'd marry you.

J: that's fair enough. But you'll fall in love with me without even knowing it.

L: what makes you say that?

J: we have more in common than you think.

L: you don't even know me jamie.

J: my mom wouldn't set me up with someone she didn't think I'd get along with. And from what I've seen today. You seem like the one.

L: your seem confident about that.

J: give me a month. You'll be in love. I promise.
