I'm in my room getting dressed for another boring day. Being on bed rest is lame as fuck.

Someone knocks on my room door. I don't recall asking for any visitors today.

"Who dat?", I ask.

"Me", I go to the door and open it for Shay.

Shay got on a hoodie, some sweats and a bonnet. This definitely ain't her usual fit, she always gotta look good "for the new niggas".

"You good boo? You looking kinda tuff today."

She lays on my bed, staring into the ceiling. A tear falls from her eyes, I'm completely surprised by seeing this. Shay ain't never cry around nobody, I can recall her saying crying was for pussies.

"Yo what's wrong shay?", I sit beside her on the bed and give her all my attention.

"You ever feel like the worlds against you. No matter what you do, there's always something to bring you down.", she wipes the tears falling from her eyes.

"Shit, yeah I have my moments. When I'm at my happiest, then suddenly some shit happen and now I feel like I'm at my lowest. I guess that's how the world works though, everything is temporary."

We sit in silence for a few minutes.

"I didn't go to college because my mom cleared my savings account before she left me with Chief. So now I'm saving every penny I make so I can pay for college. But it's just so much shit that's dragging me down and I really wanna give up."

"No Shay, you can't give up. You can't allow bullshit to ruin yo life. No matter how hard it get. Mane you the strongest girl I know and I ain't never knew you to let shit have one-up on you. So don't start now.", I got up off the bed and went to pull her up.

"C'mon lets go", I say and she sits up.

"Where we going?", she asks.

"Just c'mon", I grabbed all the shit I needed and we left the house.

When we get in the car, Shay hooks her phone up to the aux cord and plays some music.

A song starts playing and Shay sings along.

Balloons are deflated

Shay was singing the fuck out of this song. I didn't even know she could sing but damn her voice gave me chills. She continued singing without missing a word.
