Nobodies POV
Steve stalks inside, wary. Past the scattered files and specimen jars, he sees...the large cage atop a rusty drain. A prisoner lies slumped against the bars. On hearing Steve's footfalls, he calls out wearily.
"Barnes, James Buchanan. Sergeant. 32557038." The prisoner says
Steve gapes, stunned. He can't believe it. "Bucky?" Steve ask
Silence. The prisoner doesn't respond.
Then.
"Who...who is that?" Bucky ask
Steve races to the cage.
We can now clearly see a beaten, grizzled Bucky Barnes staring out. Bucky squints, unable to focus. He seems to have aged 10 years.
Steve finds Barnes strapped to a chair in one of Schmidt's testing labs.
"Bucky? Oh, my God." Steve says, He unstraps him from the chair.
Bucky studies his friend's face.
"Is that..." Bucky says "It's me. It's Steve." Steve says "Steve?" Bucky says "Come on." Steve says "Steve." bucky says
"I thought you were dead." Steve says "I thought you were smaller." bucky says referring to Steve's change of appearance.
Steve gently helps him down from the cage. Buck gapes at his transformed, much taller friend.
"What happened to you?" Bucky ask "I joined the Army." Steve says
....
The two are rushing out the room when Bucky remembers. "Wait wait, Freya." Bucky says
Steve looks confused. "The girl I went out with, that Freya. What about her." Steve ask
Bucky begins searching despite the pain it was causing him. "She was with the 107, she was our doctor. They got her too." Bucky says
Steve helps him look, worried for the brunette.
....
Bucky breaths out in relief when he sees her but is horrified when he sees how much blood there was on the floor.
She looked so pale. "Freya come on open your eyes." Bucky begs
Bucky tries to shake her awake, his fear growing.
Freya groans and her eyes flutter open, her eyes widening when she sees Bucky and Steve.
"Your alive." Freya whispers
Bucky smiles, tears gather in his eyes. "Yeah I am, come on doll let's get you out of here and to a Doctor." Bucky says
Freya nods and she clutches to him as he lifts her up from the bed.
Freya's eyes meet a worried Steve and she looks him up and down. "I heard about what you did, I'm going to miss the little guy." Freya says
Steve blushes while Bucky laughs. "Here Buck I can hold her, you look pretty beat up." Steve says, offering his arms
Bucky tightens his hold on Freya and shakes his head. "Nah pal I'll hold onto her, you fight the bad guys." Bucky says
Steve was hesitant but he sighs, nodding.
....
The first of the timers reaches ZERO. It beeps.
....
One of the machines on the factory floor explodes!
Steve and Bucky stagger as the blast shakes the room. Bucky holds tightly to a weak Freya.
