JOHNNY'S POV
"WHAT?!" I hissed at Annie
"NO NO NO! I do not like Kenzie!"
She huffed and rolled her eyes
"Sureeeee. Look there's no point in hiding it"
"I'm not hiding anything" I gritted
"Damn okay then. Your not hiding anything...anymore since I know now" she shrugged
"Shut the hell up Annie"
"I don't know why your so defensive over it. And Kayla as a code name for Kenzie is super shit. You could have picked anything and you pick that?!"
"Kayla is not a shit code name for Kenzie!" I defended myself and then quickly covered my mouth after realising what i just said
"HA I KNEW IT!" Annie screamed
I closed my eyes, trying to calm myself down before reaching out to hold Annie's shoulders
"Once again SHUT THE HELL UP. She'll hear you!"
"So you admit it now?" She smirked
"If I agree will you be quiet?" I huffed
She thought for a second
"After a victory dance because you know...I love jenzie!"
"What the hell is a Jenzie?" I was taken aback
"Johnny plus Kenzie makes Jenzie! I swear I've gone over this with you before" she whispered the last part
"Look alright I'm still all new to this...feeling. I don't know how strong it is so just don't say anything!" I pleaded
She looked me in the eye before nodding
"Okayyyy"
"But how are you going to tell her?" The smile returned to her lips
"What are you talking about?! I can't tell her! She happy with Isaak" I furrowed my eyebrows
She scoffed
"Oh please. Just between me and you...she TOTALLY had a thing for you before Isaak asked her out"
My eyes widened
"Really?"
"Yup. But you were so close minded that you didn't notice" she mocked me
"Ugh I still can't ruin their relationship. That's wrong on so many levels"
"Johnny. Feelings like this don't just go away so I know for a fact somewhere in Kenzie she still likes you-a lot" Annie reasurred me
"I guess but-"
"ANNIEEEEEEE WHATS TAKING YOU SO LONGGGGG" Kenzie screamed from upstairs
"ONE SECOND!" Annie quickly responded
She turned to me
"You have to tell her at some point Johnny"
"THATS IT. IM JUST COMING DOWN. ILL GET MY OWN SNACKS" the same voice from upstairs yelled
Panic washed over me and Annie saw that
"Don't worry. My lips are sealed" she smiled
I mouthed a thank you before Kenzie appeared at the stairs
"Ugh really Johnny. You couldn't talk to your own friends so you had to steal mine! Unbelievable" Kenzie sighed in a jokingly way
"Ha ha yeah" I nervously laughed, unsure of what to do with myself
She looked at me weirdly and I was scared what she thought
"Why are you acting weird?" She questioned
"WHAT? uh no I'm not. Your acting weird!" I tried to recover the situation but failed miserably
She was about to question further when Annie said
"When is Johnny not weird!"
And Kenzie nodded in agreement.
I watched as Kenzie spoke to Annie. Her smiled lit up so widely when she laughed and joked with her best friend. Her hair. Oh god I loved her hair and how it hung so gracefully across her cheeks. Her cheeks. I can just imagine running my thumb along them, taking in the heat from her face.
That's when I knew. I really did like Kenzie.
She consumed my thoughts and I was allowing that. I wanted to think of her. I wanted to imagine how perfect our lives would be. I wanted her. All of her. And not just as fuck buddies. But as a real couple...with love and respect.
"JOHNNY? HELLO?" I snapped out of my thoughts to Kenzie clicking her fingers infront of my face
"Uh what?" I said a little confused
"God you were out for like 5 minutes" she whispered under her breath and then carried on
"I wanted to ask if we could talk later?"
A smiled gently came across my face
"Yeah sure! When did you want t-"
I was cut off by a phone ringing.
Kenzie picked it up and spoke
"Hello?"
"Oh hey babe!"
Isaak.
"Oh no of course you can come for dinner!"
DINNER?! SHES LETTING HIM COME FOR FUCKING DINNER?! IN MY HOUSE?
"yes I'm sure. He'll be fine. He's not as scary as you think" she said glancing a look at me
I tried to keep my cool
"Your coming in like 15? That's great. I'll see you then babe bye!"
She then hung up the phone and turned to Annie
"Annie! Isaaks coming for dinner I need you to help me pick out an outfit!"
I internally rolled my eyes and grimaced at the thought of her dressing up for him.
The two girls scurried upstairs but Annie stopped half way and said something to Kenzie and Kenzie carried on without Annie.
"Don't worry. I 100% ship Jenzie over Kisaak!" She whispered
I rolled my eyes once again and Annie ran upstairs
Has it really come to this that I get jealous over a nobody just because he's with the girl I like?! That never happens! Usually if I like a girl, they like me back...but it's different with Kenzie. We're...friends. And she might not like me like that anymore-if what Annie said about her liking me before was even true.
I could hear the girls giggling upstairs and I rubbed my forehead. I was getting a headache and I'm sure stupid Isaak coming wasn't going to make that go away.
Kenzie said he was coming in 15 minutes so at least I can prepare myself for what it's going to be like...sat opposite one happy couple while I eat and feel miserable.
And to add to my worries, my family are coming home in about 2 and a half weeks. How lovely. I get to see annoying little Lauren every day again. And she wouldn't understand that Kenzie and I have become friends, so shed probably try to separate us.
