Taehyung-Anniversary

Taehyung's POV 

The sunshine hit my face, automatically waking me up. As I slowly stretched, I turned my head to face my alarm clock. It read May 17, 2021, and I smiled with happiness. Today marked the third anniversary of when I met the love of my life. When Y/n and I locked eyes in the cafe, I already knew that she was going to be the only one that I wanted. I would never forget the day that I met my soulmate. 

I was sitting down in a cafe, reading my book, and casually eating a croissant to go with it. The cafe was definitely my go-to spot, because it was a peaceful environment with not much noise. All of my friends tended to go out partying, but I guess I wasn't like that. 

To me, it was much more appealing to spend my time keeping my nose in a book, rather than going out and getting drunk. It was pretty much a daily routine for me, wake up, go to school, then head right back to this small cafe to get my usual order of a pastry as well as a caramel macchiato. I came to the cafe so often that all the workers had practically known my name and had my order memorized, but I wasn't complaining. 

It was another peaceful Friday. I sat at a table closest to the door, continuing the book I was reading. I was immersed in the book, before a jingle on the door interrupted my concentration. When I turned around to see who came in, my jaw almost dropped to the floor when I noticed it seemed to be a girl around my age. 

She had on the same uniform as me, meaning that she went to my school. And let me tell you, she was absolutely stunning. (A/n: the person reading this is jaw-droppingly beautiful! I don't want to get too specific with how Y/N looks, because everyone has their own unique beauty!) 

For some reason, I couldn't even take my eyes off her, so I continued staring at her figure as she went in line to go order. While the mysterious girl was patiently waiting in the corner for the worker to finish her order, she suddenly stared in my direction. As we made eye contact, she threw me a small smile. 

I was shocked for a second, but I quickly mirrored her smile. Even though I seemed cool on the outside, the inside was freaking out at how cute she looked when she smiled. She diverted her attention away from me, but occasionally, I saw her take small little glances before looking away again. 

One of the workers called out "One order for Y/n." 

Upon hearing her name being called, the girl ran up to take her order. Wow, even her name was insanely cute, my heart can't take this! I watched as she handed the worker a piece of paper, and I grew a little confused on what that was all about. Before Y/n turned around, I panicked and shoved the book back in my nose, before she could think I was some creep who was randomly staring. Y/n grabbed her drink and left the cafe in a hurry, hiding her face, making me question her actions even more. 

Deciding to blame it on my overthinking, I shrugged it off, going back to reading my book. Sadly, I couldn't get too far in my book, because I was tapped on the shoulder. Turning around, I was met with Sorin, one of my good friends who worked at the cafe. 

"Hey, Sorin! How are you doing?" I cheerfully asked. She sat down on the chair right across from me with a large huff. 

"Hm tired. All the customers seemed grumpier than usual and very snappy." She sighed out. 

"Anyways, do you know a girl named Y/n?" She asked while looking up at me. Sorin handed me a neatly folded piece of paper. Carefully unfolding it, I was met with the neat handwriting that belonged to Y/n. 

Hey there, 

I'm sure you're wondering who I am and why I decided to write this note to you. I couldn't help but notice you sitting by yourself and how undeniably attractive you are. I swear to god I'm not a stalker, so don't worry haha! Anyway, my name is Y/n and I was too chicken to tell you this in person, so I asked Sorin to give you this! I know I'm going to be rejected but here's my number if you're ever down to talk! ;D

Ever since that moment that she left that note, it's been pretty much pure bliss after that. After all the meetups we had, I developed feelings for her. I mean, how could I not? In my eyes, she was the most gorgeous girl to ever exist.

The way her eyes immediately lit up when she talked about the things she loved. How she treated everyone with respect and kindness. Her smile that would light up whatever room she stepped in. Her adorable expression whenever she was annoyed at me. Even when she was yelling at me, she could never hide the small smile that always managed to break through. I could never take her seriously. She was the definition of perfection. 

Stepping into the shower, I allowed the hot water to cascade down my body, ridding the growing nerves of meeting my love again. After a good ten minutes of a relaxing shower, I climbed out, dressing myself in a presentable outfit. I looked at myself in the mirror, content with my appearance. Y/n preferred my messy hair rather than combing it back, so I kept it that way, for her. 

I walked out to the car and drove down to her favorite flower shop. It was a small store owned by a really sweet old woman. Y/n was good friends with her, since she visited the shop daily. When I opened the door, a chime coming from the bell alerted the woman that a new customer arrived. Her head poked out from the back door, and her gaze softened once she realized it was me. 

"Taehyung.." She started, with a kind smile on her face, glad to see a familiar face.

"Hi MinYoung.. How are you?" I politely greeted her. 

"Good.. Business's been slow, though. The usual?" 

I smiled softly. "Of course." 

Every year, I came into MinYoung's shop to buy my love her favorite set of flowers, white roses. It was pretty much a tradition for me to come into her cozy shop. As she started packing up my order, she started making casual conservation. 

"Going to visit Y/n, again huh?" 

"You already know it. Our anniversary came by fast this year... But I'm excited to see her again." 

When MinYoung finished wrapping up my order, she handed it to me, smiling. 

"You're a good man, Taehyung. Thank you for treating her right," 

"Well, she is the love of my life and deserves the entire world." 

Carefully gathering the package, I waved to MinYoung before making my way out of the door, eager to go visit Y/n again. Getting back into my car, I started driving to Y/n. Having already memorized the path, I made the familiar left to the cemetery... 

Shutting the car door, I stepped into the grass to meet Y/n. I gently set down the flowers on her grave, already feeling the tears starting to well up in my eyes. I crouched down, as if she could hear me. 

"Hey, my love. I hope you're doing alright. I cannot believe it's been a year. Another year of having to live without you. Not having you by my side is absolutely devastating. I miss you so much and I wanted you to know your wish is being fulfilled. I'm trying my best to be happy, like you said. But I cannot move on. You are the only one I want. Why did you leave me so early? We had plans for the future. I wanted to be able to marry you, have kids, grow old together. I wanted to be able to experience it with you... I- I love you so much Y/n..." 

Choking on my words, mindless tears started falling. 

"Even though you're not physically here with me right now, you still never leave my mind. I think of you every single day and you make me so happy. At least you left without having to deal with any pain. I couldn't bear to see you crying. Hell, even seeing you cry due to your mood swings when you had her period was enough to make me nauseous to my stomach." 

Laughing to myself, I started reminiscing on how moody she was whenever she had her cramps. She was either someone to be feared or someone who simply wanted cuddles. There was no in-between. 

"Wherever you are right now Y/n, I want you to know that I'm trying for you. You gave my life purpose and you're the only reason I'm waking up every day. Happy third anniversary, babe. I love you."
