" WHAT ARE WE? "

cosmopolitan, 10:20pm.

the ache of longing to be with him echoed through the very marrow of your bones. it was a chill wind trapped in the chambers of your heart.

with every spare moment, your mind would rehearse a new letter to him. and as the allotted time for his return drew nearer, timing it seemed to slow to such a leisurely pace that it seemed cruel to you.

that distanced final week felt like a month. you never knew that missing someone could take over every fibre of your being and wring you out like a wet sponge every day. it is a torment you was unprepared for.

you kept walking around the suite, wishing jungkook was here to occupy the loneliness that was eating you up as a recollection of memories slapped you in the face.

you missed his scent that can't fully be described,
but it made you feel warm and protected inside.
you fell for him harder than a slip on black ice; he was funny, always cracking jokes. he always had you in stitches on every adventure, despite the time.

the bar at 3am, LINQ promenade at 7pm, breakfast together at 12pm, as long as it were you two together, everything was perfect.

come to think of it, 3 months ago - you knew nothing about him. he sat with you, reached out with an open heart and invited you to reciprocate, to make that connection you have now.

clasping around your phone, you scrolled through the pictures jungkook took at the promenade on the high roller, when you drank and ate chocolate covered strawberries together.

and then he gives you a smile that just seems so genuinely sweet with just the right touch of shyness that unexpected warmth rushes through you.

looking at the time, jungkook's tournament began at 11.
usually he would attend earlier as this would be your chance to talk to him privately.

grabbing the suit he gave you after the marquee bar, you called him one last time before leaving your room, but the call goes to voice mail.

you scanned around the corridor, watching a mom and her two kids walking out a few doors away as one of them clung onto jungkook's clothes in your hand with doe eyes.

ruffling your hands through the small boys hair, the mom pulled him away awkwardly apologizing for his actions.

as the family walked away you followed shortly behind them, a door opening before a tall, well built figure stepped out.

his jawline is the most prominent feature, earrings hanging from his ears. like an angel straight from heaven.

the suit was black, sharp-looking, and well-fitted. exactly the sort of thing that a woman would pick out for her man to wear to a formal event like this.

that was something that made you a bit nervous.
however, it fit well, it made him look very handsome, and when he smiled, it was a little bit magical.

but as soon as he acknowledged your figure, it faded.
"your concerns about my whereabouts are touching... however right now i want nothing to do with you."

jungkook closes the door from behind stealing your breath and the heat from your skin. suddenly your defenses were just paper, paper that is being soaked by the rapidly falling briny drops.

seconds pass, your brain not able to formulate a thought about the man in front of you, struggling to comprehend that he isn't the same guy, that his tone scared you.

"jungkook please,"
"let me fix whatever happened between us, it's been hell." his eyebrows furrowed seeing you fiddle with his suit in your hands.

"what are we? friends? a complex relationship? less than that even?" he bombarded you with questions.
your brain stutters for a moment and your eyes take in more light than it expected, every part of you goes on pause while your thoughts caught up.

jungkook sighed at your lack of response, emotional as he thought you would have an answer before glancing at his phone. "im late... we can talk when you understand your feelings about, us."
