The Arcana Oneshots

Nap~Pepi

A/n: I apologize but there is one part where Portia is OCC (out of character) but I couldn't think of another way to phrase it. Apologies! -Leah

PORTIA'S POV. (1st person)

         I have been running around all day for the Countess. The masquerade party is coming up so everyone is stressing about it, including me. Even though I am excited for it, it comes with so much more work. I haven't been able to go home all week long, and I feel like I haven't slept in days.
          Right now I'm helping the Countess with her vibrant dress. The Countess keeps telling me to take a break and slow down but it's my duty to help her. I feel the need to keep going, even though I've been multitasking for hours. "Take a break Portia, you need rest" says Milady for the 10th time today. I give a small worn out smile in return and say  "it's okay Milady I must finish my work first." She gives me a weary look and simply nods her head. I continue to help Milady with her dress when one of the kitchen staff comes towards us. She speaks in a hushed tone and bows slightly saying "Milady we need some help in the kitchen." Milady doesn't even respond before I'm walking towards the kitchen. 'Maybe that was rude' I think before shrugging my shoulders and continuing onto the kitchen.
         After a few hours I helped prepare most of the food for the masquerade and finished Milady's dress. I am about to walk away to find other chores to complete before Milady stops me. "Go rest Portia" she says in a stern but compassionate voice. Your about to speak before she interrupts you "no buts Portia you need to sleep." I think about it for a moment before saying "okay thank you Milady." I bow slightly and make my way out of the castle.
          A long walk later and I finally reach my home. Mazelinka is out in the market which leaves me alone with my familiar Pepi. I open the door and Pepi runs up to meet me. She rubs up against my legs and I pick her up in return. She nuzzles my neck and I giggle a bit from her furs lightly ticking my skin. Her light blue eyes shin in the sun making her look more vibrant and adorable than ever. I pet her head and make my way over to my bed to finally rest. I place Pepi on the mattress and soon follow after her. I lay down and start closing my eyes when Pepi cuddles into my side, which gives off her warm body heat. I open my eyes once more and give her a fond look before patting her head making her give me a purr in return. I release a small smile and finally let my eyes close for the rest of the day. That night Pepi and I napped and cuddled for what I wish could have been forever.
