As the name glided past her lips and floated through the air it was like something told her to focus on the crowd of applauding aristocrats. Her breath caught in her throat and stung her like a bee. She felt her eyes start to water
"......mom"
She felt a hand on her shoulder and turned her head to look at Donna as a few stray tears fell down her cheeks
".....mom what's wrong?"
"......I......I need some air"
Without a glance back at the crowd she ran past Donna and out to the back of the beach while taking deep breaths trying to contain her emotions. She stopped inches from the water and covered her face whilst she sobbed into the cool night air
"......it wasn't real Ruby....it wasn't..."
"Mom...."
She took a deep breath and furiously wiped her tears, "Yes"
"Are you alright?"
"Yes I'm fine I just had a little panic attack but I'm fine now"
"......but what happened-"
"Oh....I get them every once and a while but fresh air does the trick"
Donna nodded at her mother's back then cleared her throat
"Can I get you anything?"
Ruby took a deep breath and shook her head then turned to face her daughter
"I'm fine.....really"
"Okay"
"I'll just stay here a while and relax if that's okay"
"......ofcourse I'll leave you....."
"I'll just be a few minutes"
Donna nodded and walked back still very confused and a bit hurt at her mother's rejection to share with her. Ruby checked to make sure she was alone before taking a few deep breaths and closing her eyes trying to compose herself
When her body relaxed she felt a pair of arms encircle her waist and a scratchy chin resting on her shoulder, something about the embrace felt so familiar and comfortable she lost herself in it. Her body leaned back and her eyes stayed closed as she lost herself in this dream she was having in the cool night air
"Mi Amor"
Tears started flowing again once the sound of that raspy voice filled her ear
"If I'm dreaming right now I would love to hear you say my name"
A sudden chill ran through her whole body and she spun around in his arms
