"Guess you're out of your mind till it actually happens."
- Katy Perry, "Daisies"Soon, the rain stops. Even if I can't tell time, it had been an hour that the rain showers commenced. Now, at least I'm safe from sickness thanks to its conclusion. The crowd still cheers in praise to the deities of water and sprinkling rain, going back to their food stands or whatever to continue their selling. I've never seen a crowd more peculiar... they simply glorify the rain before getting back to their normal lives- like it never even happened.
"So, what do you like doing for fun?" Smooth, Yeonjun, smooth. "Anything in such particular- like sewing, weaving, cooking?"
"I mean, I can cook," I sigh out, looking at his soaked robe. "I mostly find interest in research or drinking."
"Drinking? Why that's very... ungirly of you," Yeonjun says, making me raise an eyebrow. Man, if a modern-day woman heard his words, the misogyny would thrive. "I'm just kidding. I don't like to drink, but that's indeed a cool hobby for you to obtain. Would you like to go to drink? Tea, of course. You can't be befuddled at this time of day."
And soon enough, Ho Seok's words trace back to my head. 'Why Miss Youra, don't you know you'd be considered coy when you ask someone of such virtue, even such little virtue, for a drink of no virtue?'
I raise one of my eyebrows, staring back at a confused Yeonjun, who possibly knew nothing about the coy acts of one's flirtatious persistence. If he hasn't agreed to find his crown princess, he obviously would know nothing better than that flirting is considered a coy act. Asking for a cup of tea, however, must mean nothing but a friendly gesture to him. So, I agree and nod, following him to get another cup of tea that will possibly go untouched.
But, it doesn't, for I seemingly drink almost the whole pot of it. That's quite interesting. We sit in the little tearoom, covered from the eyes of the ones in the whole house. Prince treatment is definitely a thing around here. "Do you want me to ask for more tea or some food? You seem starved."
"Maybe a small lunch would do some good for me," I respond, taking out my bag of coins. "No worries, I'll pay with what I have-" Yeonjun's hand is raised, attempting me to stop my useless talk. He looks at me before whistling lightly, three servants entering quicker than a racecar driving on its marked tracks.
"We'll have Domimyeon, Pyeonsu, Tteok, Japchae-"
"And that's all! Thank you!" I exclaimed, interrupting the prince who obviously doesn't know the word small. All those meat and vegetables... I won't be eating for days... He acts as if he's about to feed his whole dynasty! I wonder how we'll finish it...
"Why did you stop me?"
"What do you think, dummy!?"
"Dum...me?" He stands up a bit, leaning forward. "What kind of absurd word is that? I've never heard it before." I'm baffled- absolutely perplexed. Someone not even a thousand years ago doesn't know the invention of the word 'dummy'? It doesn't surprise me a lot, but it's definitely an eye-opener.
