Chapter 33: Mistake

A recollection of thoughts suddenly raised her mind. Yuzu was on the verge of shock as she still could not comprehend, nor accept what she had heard from Harumin. She knew that a part of her was still at disbelief,  as she did not want to believe what she had heard, but soon it became clear as daylight to her, that Harumin had not been lying, she was as honest as she could be, but there was nothing Yuzu could do to repair what had been lost. She seized a nearby glass of water and took a sip, before it hit her hard that she knew exactly what Harumin had been referring to, a recollection of further events struck her as she recalled the fight between Mei and Taniguchi on the rooftop several days ago, this must have been the very reason why both girls were on edge, tense as rattlesnakes as each girl wished to dispose of one another, because they had seen themselves as rivals in their conquest of love. 

Yuzu could barely glance back to meet her eyes as a wave of disappointment had struck her further, she did not want to ruin her friendship with Harumin, but she could not come to accept her love either. It wasn't the fact that Harumin ordered Sensei to mess up Mei that struck her most, but the fact that she did not confess and come clean earlier, she had strong beliefs in her friend, but by now she was starting to strongly doubt her, as she could not find it in her terms to simply justify her actions.

It was wrong, Yuzu could never tolerate it, but she was not one to judge either, Harumin owed an apology to Mei, not her so she could not meddle on her behalf.

Finally, Yuzu stood up finding the courage in herself to speak, her voice was shaky, but her resolve and ambition was strongly set in stone. She had finally made up her mind that she could no longer avoid the subject, she had to be more direct with her best friend, otherwise she would only continue to be misunderstood.

"I'm sorry Harumin," She paused, briefly looking up to meet her hazel brown eyes from across the silent room, before firmly standing her ground. "But, I can't accept your love." She admitted, still mind blown and confused, she took the step she was supposed to take long ago.
