ISABELLA 'BELLA' SALVATORE was born on April 30th, 1849, on Veritas Estate in what would eventually become the town known as Mystic Falls, Virginia. She is the youngest child born to Lillian and Giuseppe Salvatore and also the younger sister of Damon and Stefan Salvatore.

As the youngest of three, she grew up to be best of friends with Damon and Stefan. While Stefan always took the role of sweet brother, Damon took the role of annoying brother. However she loved both of them equally and really enjoyed spending time with them.

Bella was forceful, independent and often speaks her mind. She has an energetic and lively personality. She never afraid to stand up to anybody. She was tough, warm, well-mannered, and compassionate. She had the admiration and respect of the entire town of Mystic Falls, especially men due to her physical appearance.

In 1858, when Bella was nine years old, her mother Lillian became very ill with tuberculosis (also known as consumption) then ended up dying. Bella was very close to Lillian as a child and her death was something that she never got over and she never really moved on from.

Eight years later, Bella lost her two brothers and her father, making her the only one left in the family. Even worse than that, she accidentally witnessed everything. She was there when her father shot both Damon and Stefan. She was also there when Stefan killed their father and turned into vampire. And all she could do at the time was froze. It was bad enough to lost your entire family, let alone accidentally witnessed them killing each other.

Bella tried her best to be strong. She knew she had no other choice but to move on. She thought moving to New Orleans to live with her uncle would be a great start for that. She thought it would at least help her forget every horrible things she had been through. But it turned out she was wrong. Well, not completely wrong actually. It was indeed a start. A start of something else, something bigger than she had ever imagined.
