I Was Mistaken

Shuichi was woken up by his doorbell. He sighed as he forced himself over to the door, what time was it? Shuichi opened the door and saw Kokichi on the other side. "Geez Saihara Chan for a minute there I thought you were ignoring me! Nishishi!" Kokichi walked further into Shuichi's room and plopped down on the floor. "Hey Shumai watch what I can do with my face!" He turned his eyelids inside out and poked them. "Bloop! Bloop! Isn't it so gross!" Shuichi decided not to answer. "Uhm Kokichi are you okay?" Kokichi smiled. "Of course silly! Hey we should have a sleepover! Nishishi I call under the bed!" As he yelled it he crawled underneath Shuichi's bed. "Kokichi!" In a panic Shuichi pulled Kokichi out from under the bed. "OoOoOh~ I get it! Saihara Chan is hiding something! Is it a body!? Nishishi I bet it is~" "No! I would never hurt anyone!" Kokichi chuckled. "That was a lie, silly! I'm a liar, for a detective you're pretty dense." Shuichi sighed in relief. "So what are you doing here? And what time is it?" "I already said we were having a sleepover. And it's bedtime silly! But since you won't let me sleep under the bed I'll sleep on top of it!" Kokichi giggled and he did a little dance, albeit a bit unbalanced. "So you just came over to hang out?" "Ohmigosh~ yesssss get it through that thick skull of yours!" Shuichi sighed as he walked towards his closet to grab a spare blanket. "Shumai what're you doing?" "I'm getting a blanket since you took the bed." Shuichi laid the blanket on the floor. Kokichi let out a loud wail. "WAhhHhHhHHH SaiHaRA-ChAn thInKS I hAvE CoOOTiESsSs!" "No I just think it would be awkward to sleep in the same bed!" Shuichi could feel his face heat up. "Nishishi yeah you're probably right... alrighty then goodnight Shuichi!" Kokichi snuggled up under Shuichi's covers and immediately started fake snoring. Shuichi sighed as he sat down on his blanket. His back was going to hurt in the morning. He rolled over to make the blanket fully cover him and attempted to fall asleep. Kokichi's fake snores had stopped so the boy was probably asleep. Then he hurt a loud *THUMP* and suddenly Kokichi was also on the floor. "Hello there Saihara Chan. Now you won't get my cooties!" He smiled brightly and wrapped Shuichi's other blanket around himself. "You're really going to sleep on the floor?" "Nishishi I felt bad taking Saihara-Chan's bed away from him!" Shuichi sighed and uncurled himself from his blanket. "Get in the bed Kokichi." "NoPe~" Shuichi dragged his hand down his face. "Kokichi please-" "I don't wanna take Saihara-Chan's bed!" Shuichi stood up and trudged over to his bed. He plopped himself down. "Now please get in the bed." Shuichi never thought he would offer Kokichi to share a bed with him but he was tired and he didn't want Kokichi to have to sleep on the floor. Kokichi stood up and walked towards the bed. "Well if Shumai insists! You do insist right?" Shuichi hummed in agreement. The bed barely dipped at all when Kokichi layed down. It felt weird to have someone in the same bed as him, he hadn't done this since that one sleepover he had in 6th grade. Shuichi shuddered at the thought of it. Trying to summon a demon in his house was not what Shuichi thought his old friends would do if he went to sleep first. Shuichi snuck a glance over his shoulder to try to see Kokichi but the boy had his back turned to him. It didn't take long for sleep to encompass him. It was surprisingly serene.

Shuichi woke up to the morning announcement. He sighed as he sat up and rubbed his face. He was about to get out of bed when he saw Kokichi peacefully sleeping next to him. He almost had a heart attack for a minute before remembering what had occurred the night before. Shuichi looked down at his uniform, he really wished Monokuma had given them some sleep clothes. He walked to the closet and picked a random uniform, they were all the same anyway. He walked back over to the bed and reached in under it. He then pulled out his box of binders. Despite being a shitty murder bear at least Monokuma had some good. He grabbed a random one and stuffed the box back in under the bed. He then did his morning routine: Change clothes, brush his teeth, wash his face, brush his hair, ect. When he left the bathroom he was greeted by Kokichi. "Hey there Shumai! Thanks for letting me sleep over. We gotta do it again sometime!" Kokichi smiled and walked to the door. "See you at the dining hall Shuichi!" Shuichi found himself not wanting Kokichi to leave. "Uh Kokichi wait- would you like to walk to the dining hall with me?" Kokichi stopped walking and smiled brightly. "Is that your way of saying you're madly in love with me! Have I stolen your heart?!" Kokichi's eyes practically had stars in them. Shuichi could feel his face heat up. "Uh Kokichi we should probably start heading that way." Kokichi's smile never wavered. "Of course, of course! Hey Shumai do you like boys?!" Shuichi was startled by the sudden change of subject. "Uhm yeah, I'm, well I'm bisexual. Why?" Kokichi looked surprised but then he smiled menacingly "Hi bisexual, I'm gay!" Shuichi was taken aback. "Did- did you just make a dad joke?" "Yes... yes I did." Shuichi huffed. "Oh my god." They were interrupted by Shuichi's doorbell ringing. "Hey sidekick 2 get out here it's time to eat!" Kokichi looked to Shuichi and mischievously smiled. He grabbed the doorknob and swung open the door. "Hello there Kaito!" "Kokichi! What are you doing in Shuichi's room?" Shuichi forced his way in front of Kokichi. "We were just talking." Kaito looked like he didn't believe Shuichi but he didn't say anything.  Kaito chuckled. "Alright then we should go to the dining hall." Kokichi had the most shit eating grin Shuichi had ever seen in his life. As they headed to the dinning hall Kokichi teased Kaito relentlessly and Shuichi chuckled. He could almost pretend they had a normal life when things were like this. The calm before the storm. He couldn't help but to wonder what their lives would've been like if they'd never been forced into this killing game. Shuichi must've been getting behind because Kokichi grabbed his hand and pulled him forwards. "Geez Shumai you were really lagging behind there!" Kaito chuckled, "Yeah what's going on in that head of yours sidekick?" "Oh i was just thinking about what our normal lives would've been like." "I could've been to space by now! So It would've definitely been better!" "Nishishi, you wish spaceman! You'll never go to space~" Kaito only smiled. "Of course I will! Ultimate Astronauts don't just NOT go to space!" Shuichi realized he and Kokichi were still holding hands and he immediately felt his face heat up. So he might be developing feelings for Kokichi in a killing game. That wasn't very good. Shuichi sighed but didn't remove his hand from the other boy's. "Welp we made it! Man I'm starved!" Kaito opened the door and they walked in. Everyone was there for the most part. Angie's "cult" as Kokichi liked to call it were all sitting at the head of the table. "Oh wow! So many people!" Kokichi let go of Shuichi's hand and skipped over to Ryoma. "Hey Tennis whatcha doinnnn?" Ryoma sighed. "I was having a peaceful breakfast until you showed up" "Nishishi you know you love me!" "No I really don't." "WAhhHhHhHhHHH YoURrE SO MEaN To mE RyOmA!! I WaS JuSt trYiNg tO bE YouR FrIeND!" Ryoma looked at Kokichi with a raised eyebrow. Kaito finally spoke up, "hey where's Korekiyo, Miu, and Tenko?" Himiko was the first to answer his question. "Nyeh Tenko is still asleep." "Nyah Ha that is true! Atua said she needed some rest!" Kiibo spoke up after Angie was done. "I have no clue where Miu might be, I would've looked for her but, I didn't want to go alone. She can be scary." Shuichi nodded to himself. Miu could definitely be scary. "Has anyone seen Kiyo?" Tsumugi sounded concerned. Her question was answered by a chorus of 'no's going around the room. "Gonta think we should make sure friends Miu and Kiyo are safe!" Kokichi's voice rang out next. "I'm sure the whore bitchlet is just in her lab! Come on Shuichi let's go get her!" Kokichi grabbed Shuichi's hand and started to leave the dining hall. "Wait! I would like to come too if that is okay. Miu can be quite frankly horrifying but, I want to make sure she's safe." Kiibo's words were a bit unexpected. "Geez robo-dick hurry up then we don't have all day!" "That is a robophobic remark! I will not hesitate to report you once we get out of here!" Shuichi shook his head fondly. "Alright then. Kokichi, Kiibo, and I will go get Miu. Are any of you going to look for Kiyo?" Kaito nodded his head. "Yeah! Ryoma, Gonta, and me will find him!" "Can you please quit volunteering me for things? I just want to eat." Kaito chuckled at Ryoma. "Yeah yeah whatever! Lets go!" Kaito proudly walked out of the cafeteria. Gonta was a bit hesitant but followed anyway. Ryoma trudged out of the room. He looked very tired. "Alright then! Kokichi, Shuichi, let's go find Miu!"
