A few days later.

Cory walked back inside the house.

"Hey, how'd it go?" Chris asks.

"Fan-fucking-tastic." Cory says, enthusiastically.

Since the fire, Cory had been very depressed over the last couple of days and no one blamed her. Chris certainly helped her through it though; she was thankful to have him.

Today, Cory had a meeting with her insurance agent. A watch that had belonged to Cory's late adopted grandmother had been lost in the fire. Her insurance agent was meeting with Cory to give her her claim for it.

"Well you seem to be in a good mood." Chris says.

"Well you would be too," Cory starts, showing Chris the check, "If you just became thirty-eight thousand dollars richer!"

"Thirty-eight thousand dollars?!"

"Three zeros, baby!" Cory exclaims, hugging him.

"How'd you get so much?" Chris asks.

"My grandmother's watch had like gold and diamonds and shit!" Cory says as they break the embrace.

"Holy fuck, that's amazing, babe!"

"I know! Now, I can put together a good funeral for Cole, I can pay Mandy back for all the clothes, I can get a new guitar, and I'll put the rest in savings, I guess." Cory says, "Ooh, speaking of money. If you expect me to stay here, I expect you to let me pay for stuff too. Half rent, cable, electricity, whatever. I wanna be treated like a roommate."

"Whatever keeps you here, roomy." Chris says before quickly kissing her, "I'm sorry you have to do all this stuff with insurance and funerals and shit. Nick and Jenny and my parents all heard about the fire and told me to tell you how sorry they all are."

Cory gives a sad smile, "That was nice of them. Tell them I said 'thank you'." She says, "So everyone knows about us now, huh?"

"Is there an 'us'?"

"Isn't there?"

Chris smiles, "I'd like to think that there is." He says before kissing her.

Cory smiles when they come apart. She really was happy to be with him. This was certainly the best way for her to be handling the circumstances.

"So do you still have a lot of planning to do?" Chris asks.

"Yeah. I've put most of it in the hands of the funeral planner though. I've got a couple phone calls to make. I've got a call the flower guy and the funeral home to make sure everything is going as planned, and then I've gotta start calling people to invite to the funeral. Cole's teachers, his classmates, his baseball team."

"You need any help with all of that?"

"Just give me a shoulder rub when I'm done?"

"Deal."

Cory smiles, then walks off, grabbing her phone.

"Hi, Jason, can I talk to your mom please?...Thank you...Hi, Mrs. Scott, this is Corianne Stanley." Cory says, trying not to sound tired.

Chris simply watched her. He could tell that his whole process for her was emotionally draining.

"Oh that's very nice of you to say." Cory says into her phone, "It's this Thursday."

Chris worried for her. This entire thing worried him. He hated seeing her like this.

Cory hangs up the kitchen table. She puts her elbows on the table and her face in her hands.

"You alright?" Chris asks, walking in.

"I could really use that shoulder rub right about now." Cory says, looking up, "Just let me go change into some comfier clothes."

"Okay." Chris says as she stands. He kisses her forehead and she smiles before walking off.

Wednesday walks in and yips at Chris.

"What? You hungry?" Chris asks. He quickly pours some food into her bowl and she immediately begins eating.

Chris walks into the bedroom as Cory is putting on a loose tank. He smirks to himself as he notices the butterfly tattoos on her back. They had to be the only ones she had. Up until then, Chris wasn't even aware that Cory had tattoos in the first place.

"Smokin' tattoos." Chris says as Cory pulls the tank down.

Cory turns around, no longer wearing her glasses, "I let Mandy talk me into getting them. I feel like butterflies are so cheesy, but whatever."

"I think they're sexy."

"Do you now?" Cory asks, smiling as she walks up to him.

"Mhm." Chris says before putting his hands on the hips and kissing her. Cory smiles into it and wraps her arms around his tattooed neck. She stands on her tiptoes and pulls herself closer to him, if that was even possible. Chris' tongue lightly traced her lips, wanting access, which Cory granted.

The kiss became more heated as their tongues fought for dominance. Cory ran her fingers through Chris' hair and bit his bottom lip. Chris growled, then lifted Cory up and quickly walked her to the bed before laying her down and crawling on top of her.

Cory's hands drifted under Chris' shirt as they continued to make out, feeling his stomach and chest. She tugged on it, wanting it off. Chris momentarily broke the kiss, took the shirt off in one swift motion and threw it wheverever before resuming kissing the girl beneath him.

Chris' lips trailed down her jawline, then down to Cory's neck. He lightly sucked as he kissed up and down her neck. Cory lightly moaned when Chris found her sensitive spot. Chris found that to be extremely hot, and made sure to remember that spot.

Chris' lips returned to Cory's and they resumed their rough makeout session. Cory's hands traveled all the way up Chris' chest to his shoulders to his dark black hair. Chris' hands traveled to Cory's legs and hooked one of them to him as their hips began to roll into each other. Cory could feel her insides beginning to ache for him, as if they weren't already.

They come apart a moment and press their foreheads together and breathed heavily.

"We should...probably quit now." Chris says.

Cory nodded. It'd probably be best if they not have sex now at all times. After all, they were only together a few days, and Cory was under a lot of stress. She wanted her first time to be romantic, not just something that she used as a stress-reliever.

Chris rolled over next to her and kissed her forehead. Cory smiled, despite herself. She knew that he would be worth the wait.

A/N: I know that these filler chapters are all starting to roll together, but hey, at least Chris and Cory are now officially together! I promise the story will get good again soon, you guys just need to be patient with me. We are right in the middle of a very big transitioning point in the story right now which means some big stuff will be coming soon.

I had this conversation with my stepmom the other night and it was just really...triggering. She just doesn't understand. Things have been so difficult lately and she just doesn't understand how much worse she is making them for me. I miss my real mom.

Sorry. These little author's notes are the only real places that I get to vent.
