Carter's POV

Earlier that night...

I was sat in my new bedroom, staring down at my phone.

All of the boys were already downstairs and the girls had gone to sleep, but I wasn't in a social mood anyway.

I watched as my girlfriend spammed my phone with message after message, wondering what I've been doing and why I didn't bring her with me on this trip.

I'd been avoiding her texts and calls because I didn't want to deal with Laura right now in all honesty. It takes a certain type of mood to put up with Laura and I certainly wasn't in that mood right now.

I'd had enough on my mind after my argument with Skylar. I'd been giving my sister the silent treatment for a couple of days and hadn't really been acting like myself.

But in my defence, I was angry.

This whole situation with Sky just really got under my skin and nobody seemed to see my side of things.

~Flashback~

I was sat in the back of my math class as the day was closing to an end. None of my friends are in that class, so usually I just sit at the back minding my own business without interacting with anyone. That's the way I like it.

Today, however, the two girls who were sat in front of me caught my attention.

I didn't know them, even after being in their class for god-knows how many years, but I didn't really care. The only reason they'd caught my attention was because I'd heard the mention of my younger sister's name.

I leaned forward slightly to hear them more clearly as their annoying high pitched voices giggled in excitement and my brows furrowed.

"Yeah, I heard he's dating that Skylar girl." one of them said.

"The sophomore?" the other one questioned in a surprised tone.

I lifted my head, now knowing for certain that my sister was the topic of their conversation and continued my eavesdropping.

Dating? Like hell I'd let my sister date anyone.

"Yeah, I know, but I suppose she's 16 and he's 17 so it's not all that bad, only a one year difference. He's way too hot for her though, I can't lie." she laughed, making me slightly angry.

"But why would he date a sophomore when he has all of us senior girls to choose from? It makes no sense." she laughed as my jaw clenched.

I began filling with anger as I envisioned someone in my grade dating my 16 year old sister. I needed to know who they were talking about and I needed to know now.

Fortunately for me, the bell indicating that it was the end of the day went off and I immediately stood up and slammed my hands against the desk of the two girls in front of me.

They both gasped in shock from my suddenness and stopped putting their books away.

"Who were you just talking about?" I demanded in a stern tone.

"Oh- Hi Carter." one of them smiled at me, beginning to twirl her hair as the other one bit her lip.

I was used to girls trying to flirt with me, but now was not the time.

"Who were you just talking about?" I repeated, getting slightly louder.

"Oh, I- just some random sophomore girl." the other girl shrugged after she stuttered due to my presence, obviously not knowing that they were talking about my sister.
