Sophie was floating on air. Fitz loved her. They were in love!
The next day at Foxfire, Sophie hardly payed attention in Elementsium and elven history. The next class was Telepathy and she could hardly contain her excitement.
"Hello, Sophie, Fitz," Tierigan said as they walked into the room.
"Hello," they replied in unison.
They both sat down in the two open chairs in the plain metal room.
"Today you will be transmitting to Silviney, and yes I know that you've done that before, but I want Sophie to try and relay the emotions she sends to Fitz. Got it?" Terigan obviously wanted to get this done, so Sophie opened her thoughts to Fitz's right away.
Ready?
Yep! Hopefully this works!
Fitz seemed so adorably excited.
SILVINEY! DON'T IGNORE ME!
Fitz winced, but got over it quickly.
SOPHIE! FITZ! FRIEND! HI! KEEFE!
Sorry, no Keefe
KEEFE! KEEFE! KEEFE!
Are you okay?
FItz's quiet voice tore through the tenison.
GREYFELL OKAY! BABY OKAY! BABY OKAY! SILVINEY OKAY!
Sophie rubbed her temples.
YES, but where are you? Why did you leave Havenfield?
FREE! FREE! FREE!
She sent a wave of adrenaline and happiness.
This was the moment of truth. Sophie formed a mental casing around the emotions and sent them to Fitz.
He sent her a movie star smile, and she knew it had worked.
"That's intense," he added a moment later.
"Yeah, it takes a while to get used to her emotions, because she feels them so strongly."
For the rest of the class, Fitz would jump up and do a cute happy dance whenever it worked and would ask Sophie to try again if it didn't. Terigan seemed happy about their progress when class ended, and that was good. Because he didn't give them any homework.
"So," Keefe said at lunch, "anything knew in Fitzphie land?"
"Nope," Fitz said quickly, a blush spreading in his cheeks.
Linh added, "Keefe gave me this bracelet," she showed the group a pendant with an ice blue stone that said;
Forever my always
"That's SO CUTE!" Sophie could swear Biana was turning into Silveny.
The group seemed to be settling into the couples, and there was a certain calm to that idea. Everybody was okay with who they were going to be with.
"Is that Stina?" asked Tam, pointing across the cafeteria.
"Yes," Fitz told him.
He shivered and put his arm around Biana, obviously happy she felt the same way.
Keefe and Linh, Tam and Biana, Dex and Marella, and Fitz and Sophie.
They were okay.
