CHAPTER 22

Of course Amber and I
are at the boys house,
when are we not here?
It is more populated
than usual due to Troy
and Maddy being here.

Not Amber taking a
liking to Jeffrey, the fake
blm boy. I don't got beef
with him I'm just sus.

"Y'all wanna order pizza
for lunch?" Jordan asks
the group as we chill in
the living room.

"Yeah I'm down, it
sounds good right now."
I answer while others
nod and shrug.

Kio clearly seems
agitated I'm here, like
buddy keep holding a
grudge and you will get
forehead lines at
twenty five. I won't let
his attitude bother me
though.

I get up and head into
their kitchen to find
myself a drink like a
coke or Dr Pepper.

Kio entering the kitchen
behind me, probably
wanting to talk about it.

"Can we talk?" He asks
as he watches me grab
the soda from the fridge.

I nod and follow him
into a secluded room
so it would be quieter
and privater.

"Imma get to the point,
I don't like how you
played with my feelings.
You don't even look like
the type to do that, but
I guess I don't know
you." He starts.

"You're right, I'm sorry.
Things just have been
complicated and
confusing recently."
I apologize, not trying to
make it sound like an
excuse but apologizing
is hard.

"I really just want to
know if our kiss was
just you having fun,
I know I kissed first but
you kissed back." Kio
states.

"Our kiss wasn't me
trying to play with your
feelings, but I know
I did by accident. I was
scared to say no and
make our friendship
awkward." I explain
which is true.

I swear things never
go right for me, I fucked
up a friendship,
everyone is dead or
something, and my past
traumas.

"I'm not the type to get
awkward after things
like that. But one thing
that has been on my
mind is if I crossed a
line because you
flinched when I held
your wrist." Kio says.

"Oh I guess I just flinch
easily for no reason."
I shrug, lying, not
wanting to talk about it.

"You flinch a lot though
when you are touched.
Are you okay?" He asks.
I know he wants me to
talk about whatever he
is thinking.

"Yes I'm fine, I just
flinch, it's literally not
a big deal. I just don't
expect it." I state
hoping it'll get left at
that.

Kio gives me a look
and I just know he isn't
going to drop this at let
it be.

"Then why are you
getting so defensive?"
He questions with a
little bit of attitude, like
he's getting annoyed
with me.

I shake my head trying
to hold in my clear
annoyance, "because
I want you to drop it,
what makes you think
I want to talk about it?"

And with that he shuts
up, nobody even knows
besides my therapist
who I haven't seen in
months and my aunt.

"Sorry." Kio whispers
before leaving the room
and leaving me in my
thoughts.

I never even realized
I flinch that easily until
now, I'm pretty sure it
is normal to flinch?

I get up and head back
to the group as well
even though all I can
think about now is the
incident.

"Good you're back, we
are just picking a show
to watch." Jordan says
as I sit on the couch
next to Amber who is
still chatting with her
new "boyfriend".

"Did you and Kio make
up?" Vinnie asks
whispering in my ear.

"I think so, it got weird
at the end though."
I awkwardly chuckle
quietly.

"How so?" Vinnie
questions, being nosy
like he is my boyfriend
or some.

I sigh, everyone just
wants to ask ten million
questions and push me.

"He got off topic, trying
to get me to talk about
something personal."
I shrug, let's hope I get
no more questions
now.

He nods and we start
paying attention to
whatever Jordan and
the others turned on.

"Kiss, kiss, kiss." A few
chant at Amber and
Jeffery. I admit Jeffery
is kind of attractive but
some of the things he's
done, no.

"What the hell did I miss
while in the bathroom?"
I chuckle awkwardly.

"Not much, they were
just hardcore flirting and
now everyone is horny."
Vinnie answers shaking
his head with a small
laugh.

Everyone starts calming
down and Amber looks
slightly embarrassed but
we all know she liked it.

"Hey guys I think I'm
gonna head home now."
I state. I started getting
bored because I'm kind
of being left out but
that's my fault I guess.

"What why? You drove
us here and I'm not
ready to go." Amber
states.

"I'll call an Uber." I reply
tossing her my car keys.

"I'll go too, I guess."
Emilio chuckles getting
up and following me.
