43 NARRATIVE

CHAPTER 43

I finish up my last minute
packing while Vinnie takes
a quick showers.

I am excited but the airport
stresses me out, at least I
won't be alone. Planes also
scare me sometimes but I've
mostly grown out if that.

We're only going to be there
a week so I don't need to
bring too much but I probably
will.

The flight is at 12:45am so we
have to leave at like 9:30pm
because you know LA traffic.
At least Jordan and Maddie
are picking us up. Only
because I totaled my car last
month and Vinnie doesn't
want to leave the Miata at
the airport.

"Are you almost ready?"
Vinnie asks as he walks out
of the bathroom with just a
towel.

"Yeah pretty much, just
waiting for you and for us to
get picked up." I answer with
a small shrug.

"Jordan said they'll be here
soon so just the heads up."He
states before disappearing
behind our bedroom door.

I'm still curious about Kio's
date but knowing him, he will
be petty as hell. If it's Amber
I will actually laugh, I grew
out of my angry phase. I don't
hate anyone and I just ignore
the people who get on my
nerves.

"Did you pack your meds?"
Vinnie questions trying to be
all prepared, making sure I'm
not forgetting anything.

"Of course, don't be silly. It's
rooted in my brain after all
these years." I chuckle rolling
my eyes.

"Right right, I just want the
trip to be perfect." He says,
continuing to look around to
see if he is missing anything.

"It will be, don't stress." I
reassure, laying my hand on
his back, "it's not like we can't
buy some of the stuff there."

The four of us arrive at the
airport and head to the
check-in. We'd meet up with
the rest at the gate later.

"I regret deciding to come,
the flight is like 10 hours and
we have 1 stop. I'll be tired
the rest of the week." I half
joke.

"You easily sleep anywhere,
I think you'll be fine." Vinnie
chuckles, rolling his eyes.

"Well I don't easily sleep on
planes. When I was a kid I
had a reoccurring plane
dream that still lowkey freaks
me out." I state as we head
into one of the security lines.

I start taking my shoes off
and put my devices in the
gray buckets, Vinnie behind
me doing the same.

We quickly pass through the
detector and grab our stuff.
Jordan and Maddie waiting
for us on the other side, I
guess they picked a better
line.

"I just got a text from Kio
saying they're running a little
late, let's hope they don't
miss the flight." Jordan says
as we reconnect with the
couple.

We head down to our gate
which happens to be all the
way at the end. We had
decided to wait for everyone
there before grabbing food.

"I can't wait for us to be the
only thing tiktokroom will be
talking about this week."
Maddie chuckles sarcastically.

After about 20 minutes of
sitting & waiting, everyone is
connected. Emilio and Riley
made it to the gate about 5
minutes or so after us.

Was I surprised to see Amber
with Kio? No, I saw that shit
coming from a mile away. He
is really trying to make me
mad or some, but he is failing
miserably.

This won't be another hater
to lover storyline.

The silence is real loud.. it's
like everyone here is more
uncomfortable than I am. Like
Amber and I aren't friends
anymore and it's a little tense
between us, but I rather avoid
confrontation.

"Let's go grab a drink." Vinnie
suggests quietly, grabbing my
hand, not even bothering for
an answer.

We end up leaving our stuff
with everyone else and head
back down towards the little
shops. I'll probably just get a
Pepsi and call it a day.

"Are you still okay with going
since Amber is here?" Vinnie
asks as we walk into Hudson.

I nod with a reassuring smile
and answer, "Yeah yeah it's
not like I'll be sharing a room
with her."

Since Emilio, Kio, and their
dates were last minute adds
only Jordan and Maddie are
sat near Vinnie and I. It's for
the better though.

I pop my AirPods in and get
ready to relax for however
long the flight is. Though 9
hours of music will get boring.

After about an hour of just my
music, Vinnie asks if I want to
watch The Titanic with him.
That'll keep us occupied for a
good portion of the flight.

I lean my head on his
shoulder trying to get more
comfortable and get a better
view of the movie on his
screen.

I yawn out of boredom and
sleepiness. You know what
would be good right now?
The Penthouse, even if you're
tired and half asleep.. you
have to know what happens
next.

"You're like a child, so hard
to entertain and hard to keep
you focused." Vinnie jokes,
commenting on my yawn.

"You act as if you didn't
already know this.. like I'm
ready to get to The Bahamas
and sleep the rest of the day
already." I chuckle shaking
my head.

I ultimately end up falling
asleep miraculously for the
rest of the flight. It's one of
those kinds of sleeps where
you didn't even mean it to
happen.

And guess what!? We are still
in America! At least now we
know we are half way there.
I've never been to Miami
though.. would the airport
count? I'll count it, I mean it's
my rules.

"Hopefully the slackers won't
make us miss the connection
flight." Vinnie says since our
connection is in about 45
minutes.

"Let's not even think about
that, we will leave them here
if we have too." I say
seriously, not in the mood to
think about stuff going wrong.

The plane finally stops at the
gate in Miami and everyone
gets up to grab their bags and
go.

Vinnie offers to grab my
suitcase for me from the
overhead bin after he grabs
his own. While he does that
I look around my seat making
sure I have everything.

But the only thing really on
my mind right now, is why is
Kio being so messy? Like if
there was a valid reason
maybe I'd  understand.. but
his only excuse is that one
thing that happened over a
year ago.

Someone must be lying on
my name.. Kio didn't hate me
this much until like 2 months
ago. Who though? I've been
nice to almost everyone..

I don't have a good feeling
about this trip anymore..
Maybe Vinnie and I should
stay in Miami.

NOTES
I'm going to try and drop the next
chapter tomorrow or the day after
so be excited..
