CHAPTER 33

With things in my life being
a little weird I made the
decision to go visit my old
hometown. I need this.

"Okay but did you seriously
have to invite yourself on
my little road trip?" I groan
as I drive down the freeway
in the middle of nowhere.

"Yes, it's unsafe for a girl to
be alone in the middle of
nowhere ." Vinnie jokes
passing me a playful look.

"You're annoying but I guess
I'll just force you to pay for
my gas and snacks." I smirk,
keeping my eyes glued on
the road.

"Wow.. When she uses you
for your money." He fake
cries dramatically.

I roll my eyes but laugh,
maybe the company will be
nice after all. I'm not betting
on anything though.

"Can we get food, pleasee."
Vinnie says purposely
sounding like an annoying
child.

"I will drop you off at the
side of the road." I threaten,
half joking.

My home town wasn't close
to LA but wasn't far either, it
was still in California just by
Oregon.

"So what was your home
town like?" Vinnie asks
curiously, even though he
knows he might get a half
assed answer.

"Ummm it was pretty, I had
a lot of friends, and I
remember my dad used to
take my brother and I to our
favorite park every other
weekend." I start, not really
knowing what to say.

"Are you going to visit any
friends while we are there?"
He questions.

I nod and answer, "yeah
one, it's just weird because
we were freshman when I
left so everyone is different."

——

After a nearly six hour drive
we've made it to Roseville,
just outside of Sacramento.
It's already five and I didn't
make any plans to visit
anyone or anything until
tomorrow.

"Okay so there is kind of
one bed because I wasn't
expecting you to come with
me." I state as we bring our
bags into the hotel room.

"You're acting as if we didn't
share your bed during our
Fast and Furious movie night."
Vinnie chuckles while placing
his backpack on the floor.

"Okay true but what should
we order for dinner? There
is an In&Out near by but we
both know it's overrated." I
start, changing the subject.

"We could just order pizza."
He shrugs seeming very
uninterested in the food
decision making talk.

I end up ordering us a box
of pizza and garlic bread
from Pizza Hut.

"We should swim after we
eat." Vinnie suggests, most
likely already getting bored
of the lack of entertainment.

"I didn't bring a bikini though."
I chuckle with a fake cry.

"Then go in your clothes,
you goofy ass." He replies
with a little bit of playful
sass.

I roll my eyes, I mean who
even wants to swim in
March? It's barely even 60
degrees in Sacramento
during the day.

——

After finishing our Pizza
dinner we head to the pool
area with our towels. If I
think about it, I haven't
really been in a pool in ages.
