CHAPTER 40

I knock on Ambers bedroom
door to talk, we never got to
talk last night since I fell
asleep before she got home.

"Yes?" I hear her voice
question from the other side.

I open her door slowly and
see that her room is almost
fully packed up. Like did I
sleep for 3 days??

"What's going on?" I ask
confusedly, hoping to get this
conversation done quickly.

"I'm moving out? What else?"
She answers with some sass,
I should be the one with sass.

Walking more into her room
I sit down on the floor across
from her and say, "Well can
we at least talk about last
night?"

"I know i fucked up, okay.
That's why I'm moving out..
you deserve better than what
I did. I'll still pay my rent until
y'all find a new roommate."

"What even happened
though? It was so random.
You crossed over so many
boundaries. You should go
apologize to Vinnie, not me."

She continues to fold some
clothes and shove it in boxes.
She must've started this last
night if she is this far into it.

"Honestly, I was angry with
you. And I'm sorry, this whole
thing is all my fault starting
with forcing you to be friends
with Vinnie. I was angry
because you started blowing
me off for him even when you
still kind of hated him." She
rants, refusing to look at me.

"You could've talked to me."
I state blankly.

"I tried! You were always in
your own world. The last time
you paid any attention was
when Dari broke up with
Emilio." Amber goes off,
trying to hold back whatever
emotions.

"Okay and you know that I
deal with my shit a lot. No
offense but if you wanted my
attention so badly you
would've tried harder.. and
the stunt you pulled was the
wrong kind."

"But you know what's funny
is I was almost always there
for you.. when were you
there for me? Rarely."

I shake my head in
annoyance and reply, "you're
never open about your
feelings, hence this situation.
Sorry I'm not good at hiding
my feelings from you guys,
sorry I dealt with so much
shit. And aren't you the same
one that sent Vinnie to see if
I was okay those 5 times?
Was it really "Cupid" or you
making him play babysitter."

She sits there silently, an
unrecognizable look on her
face, clearly at a lost for
words. She knows I'm right,
and now she has to think of
an excuse.

"Okay well I said I'm sorry,
and I'm moving out. There is
no need to drag this on, now
if you would let me finish
packing in peace that would
be nice." She states quietly.

I leave her room quietly and
head into the kitchen for a
snack. Emilio playing some
game on the tv while talking
to his friends.

"Hey Jes. How'd the talk with
Amber go?" Emilio asks as
he takes his headset off and
turns the game off.

"Eh, I mean it went as
expected I guess. I'm still a
little sad though." I answer
with a shrug as I sit down on
the couch next to Emilio.

"So what do you want to do
about this new roommate
situation?" He questions me
like I'm the one in charge of
everything.
