———-Samuel's Pov
Flowers are nice.
At the moment I was surrounded by many of them. All colors and shapes and sizes. Big and small, tall and short, you name it. Everywhere there was a flower. I think at that point I noticed I was dreaming.
If not then, then it was definitely when I heard that obnoxious ring.
Ding ding ding.
It rang over and over again. It started about 20 minutes ago but I had decided to ignore it. This dream was quite relaxing and I didn't want to leave just yet.
Well that was until realization seemed to click in for me.
I jolted awake as I heard the ring of my alarm come through loud and clear. I jumped out of my bed reaching for it, tripping over the bedsheet and landing flat on my face in the process. I groaned on the floor as the alarm continued ring. I bet it was ringing louder just to spite me.
Getting up, I picked up my phone and then I remembered why there was an alarm in the first place. When I looked at my phone the time read a very unappealing 9:00 am.
I groaned again as I noticed that I was late for my first day of school. Switching off the alarm I threw the bedsheet back on the bed and began heading downstairs to see my mom.
It was always just me and my mom since she only had one child. She and my dad divorced a couple years back so now it was only me and her for real.
My mom was usually cool about certain things like this. I knew most of it was from the fact that I maintained straight A's and a decent gpa. I also knew that if I was not on the high honor roll, then my mom would have my head on a platter.
I entered the kitchen and caught a glimpse of Ma in a apron cooking breakfast. "Good morning" I said, entering the kitchen and coming into full view.
"Morning Sammy" Ma chirped, continuing to flip the pancake that was slowly starting to burn on the pan.
I took a seat around the table and watched my mom as she finished cooking breakfast.
"Isn't today the first day of school?" Ma asked, setting a steaming the plate of breakfast in front of me.
"Yes and i'm late" I replied with a straight face hoping she wouldn't freak out. I should've know that my luck only went so far.
"THEN WHY ARE YOU STILL HERE!" Ma screamed in with a harsh tone.
I flinched before trying to reply cooly. "Ma it's okay, i'm leaving right after I finish my food and plus I have good attendance, what's the point of me being late this one time."
I knew this could be seen as manipulation but I hoped my mom wouldn't see through it. She looked at me silently as if observing my plea, sending a cold shiver down my spine.
Afraid of what she might say next, I just decided that I was going to be quiet. After a couple of seconds of silence, which felt like years, Ma finally exhaled and turned back to the stove.
"Alright fine. You have 5 minutes to eat and 5 minutes to get ready. If you're still in this house after that, your ass will be kicked out on your neck."
I looked at my mom with wide eyes and nodded my head. I quickly began to inhale the food on my plate not caring if I were to choke or not.
One thing I did know for sure was that when my mom spoke, she only spoke once. I made sure when she did I listened.
