Last period class. The worst class.

Sean entered the class and saw that Samuel was already there in his seat in the far back. Averting his gaze quickly, Sean took his seat in the back directly across from Samuel, so his side profile was in view.

Class started and went on as both boys didn't bother to pay attention. Sean's mind ran on Samuel but the only thing Samuel's mind ran on was when this class would be over so he could go home.

This class period the teacher began to discuss final projects and academic award ceremonies. They claimed that the beginning of the year is always best to give everyone a heads up.

"Samuel was at the top of his class Sophomore and Junior year, therefore he is one of the top students in our school. I don't want to discourage any of you from running for valedictorian but I'm just giving you guys a direct view on your competition." As the teacher said this most kids began to whisper and look around the class.

When Samuel looked up he saw that all eyes were now on him. He didn't really feel embarrassed, if anything he was a little pissed off. For the most part he didn't really seem to care, but he did feel that the teacher didn't have to air him out like that.

Sean looked to the side to see everyone looking at Samuel. Most of the girls were giggling and blushing and some were just not paying attention. Then there were the ones that were glaring at him in envy. Sean tried to study Samuel's expression but it seemed as if he didn't even care.

Who would've thought that someone of such personality would be a nerd. In Sean's mind Samuel's sudden academic achievements came as a surprise. He wouldn't have counted Samuel as someone to be well off in school. A little awestruck and intrigued Sean listened as the teacher began to talk.

"As most of you know our beginning of the year project will be introduced today. I will be selecting students whose grades from the year before match up the most to be partners. If last year your final grade was a 90 you'll be paired with someone whose final grade was an 85 or above."

Samuel knew that his grade was pretty high so he was most likely to get paired with a girl. Most of the guys in that class weren't pretty smart, how they got into AP English would be a mystery.

Sean let out a scoff and rolled his eyes. He knew his grades weren't the best but they were pretty good. Sean was sure he was most likely to get paired with some girl.

The teacher continued " When I call your name you and your partner get up and move next to each other."

The teacher started to call names and people started to move. Both awaited for there names to be called as the time ticked and people moved.

Eventually Samuel's name was called and both boys picked up there head at the same time. Sean watched as a short brunette girl sat down next to Samuel giving him a warm smile. He returned the smile which made the girl blush.

Samuel knew he would get paired with someone smart so it wasn't a shock when he was paired with the second smartest person in there class.

Sean watched as conversation brewed between the two. A feeling burning in his throat as he watched the girl blush furiously every time Samuel spared her a glance.

Finally Sean's name was called and a girl walked up and sat next to him. The girl had a weird style to her. She had on baggy corduroy jeans and a large KISS T-shirt on. Her hair was split into 2 messy ponytails, that she must've done in a rush. The part down the middle wasn't even straight.
