The room had creamy yellow walls, the door and window frames were painted a glossy white, the carpet was a dark blue as if someone painted the floor the colour of a clear summer night, it looked rather soft but this was a trick as it was old and worn due the years it had to endure.

Weighing down the carpet were three rows of tables with a pleasant wooden one hugging the corner a spinning chair was facing the back of the room where a clock hung quietly ticking away the time for the rest of the tables they had a single chair that was solid and uncomfortable, they were a plain blue colour that was slightly over saturated to the trained eye.

In every chair was a bored and tired person who was waiting for the seconds to slip by the clip they were meant to be taking notes on when in one ear and out the other, even the top student sat there with a dazed expression. The only movement to be heard was the odd occasion when a student would look at their watch to see how much time is left to drag by.

They all felt slightly blessed in knowing it was only a half day and all they had to do was survive until 12:15 pm. The teacher sighed and looked around at this class. He knew they were basically asleep but there was no point in trying to force them to work and they seemed to always cause a ruckus when work was involved. He looked at the clock it was 12: 05 pm it was so close but yet so far. He cleared his throat.

"If you want to start packing up, I'll let you leave a little early, just do it slowly" His voice was slightly thicker than normal due to the lack of use for the hour.

This seemed to wake them all up from their stupor with stars in their eyes, they were all silently praising the male teacher as they put things away at a snail's pace. When the time was right and they had successfully packed things away, the students rushed out the door biding their goodbye to the teacher and their silent goodbyes to the accursed room with its plane walls and glossy frames. Once out the building they felt as if they'd been reborn with the wings of freedom. The low winters sun blinded them on the wet but clear day making the students think they just walked into heaven out of hell.

Another jem I found in the draft section (however I'm sure if it is a jem)
