"Elly, Elly where are you Elly?!" Her mother shouted in worry as her daughter was missing in the early dusk.
"Is she missing again?" He father asked with frustration, he was annoyed by the many times she did this.
"Yeah and it will be cold out" Her mother looked back to the open door.
"She'll find a way to stay warm" Her father waved of the worried woman.
"But..." Her mother stared to speak.
"No buts if she doesn't want to be found we will not find her" Her farther interrupted, he knew the skills of his daughter much better than her mother would.
"Fine" Her mother finally gave up but she would never stop worrying.
Elly was hiding in a dense bush that she had carved a space out of; She was a master of hiding all of her other lessons were wasted on her. Her father's lessons evolved knowing poisons from their antidotes, using fire arms and other weapons, knives were Elly's specially. Elly had been hiding since lunch and her lunch considered of wild berry's that were drilled in to her from the many nasty lessons.
Everyone was about to give up on her until they found her secret and plan to use it as a weapon and purge it from her at the same time but Elly won't know it's happening.
Elly slipped out of the bush without even making a single leaf quiver with movement. She jogged to a small quiet clearing where she would always meet up with her friend that should never be found. The clearing had a short stump of an forgotten tree; moss had engulfed what was left and small flowers sprung out here and here.Elly perched on the edge and sat respectfully to wait for her friend, her shoulders were back and her back was straight, this was how they were always meant to sit, no matter the injury or illness. Every second even though out the pain of a punishment. In this place winters were always dark but this night was darker, it was a good job her friend was back but they weren't pure black.
There was a growing sound of movement, usually her friend was just as quiet as her although something was different tonight; maybe it was the unusually over cast sky or the determined moon trying to make its self-known through the cloud cover. Or the stars trying and failing to clear the heavy clouds. The hedge in front of Elly quivered as a large wolf pushed through the hidden hole at the bottom, its ash fur blended in to the night, its violet eyes looked like lanterns in the dim, sometimes the turn red, Elly had no fear of the wolf; this wolf always kept her company during the night.
Elly dropped from the stump and on to her knees, the wolf stood up to is full height; it towered over her easily. Then too it sat down next to her, it rested its head on her lap, silently asking for its ears to be scratched, she knew this is what it wanted, they had known each other for two years now.
But in those two years Elly had learnt the danger her friend was in by seeing each other over other night. Elly's lessons where about hunting and killing, her father wanted to make a hunter out of her no matter the cost. Her lessons broke and maimed her heart, her kindness, her freedom.
She was long past the days of wishing to not know, long past the days wishing for the entire lesson to be over. It will all end when she succeeds in killing a powerful wolf like the one currently laying on her lap getting it's ears screeched, like her friend, the one who has always listened to her sobs, her whispered shouts, her laughter; these are the things her parents never see well not any more.
Her mother know this was breaking her but her father thought he she was finally bending to his was; both of them were unaware of her hate of her life style. The only one who really knows the trapped girl was the ash gray wolf. The wolf would take her away but that meant his enter pack would have to move, it was already dangerous to stay next to hunters as it was. But he knew this girl didn't want to stay, didn't want to hunt, and didn't want to kill.
