Lily stood on an old wooden boarded stage with people chained to either side of her. Lily could hear anticipated whispers from the unseen crowd along with desperate cries and whispers from the others chained with her. There was a small boy with flat black hair to left and a girl the same height as Lily but with hair the colour of straw, this girl was quietly sobbing, it was apparent that she was here against her own will unlike some of the others.
The conductor of the auction went around carefully and quickly checking our chains were secure; theses chains, thick cold shackles that bound them tightly and restricted their hand movements, then there was another pair attached to their ankles and it made it easier to catch them if they decided to get cold feet, plus they make a game out of catching the one who decide to try and flee the sence. Most people here wouldn't get cold feet as their lives can't get any worse than it already is, so they take the 'leap of faith' when all hope is lost.
A voice suddenly boomed and echoed across the many unseen heads and over the tired bodies. "Welcome Lady's and Gentlemen to the midnight auction, as some of you can see we got several generous donations to make tonight a grand hall" He paused for a moment then cleared his throat before continuing."For all those who want a pet of their own, I must warn you some are quite feisty so to all new owners, you might want to come up with a punishment just in case" Once he finished his long winded speech, the stage lights grow dimmer and a spotlight was turned on too blind the captive.
Now Lily could see the first few rows of the mass of bidders wanting their own slave to do as they pleased and don't have to worry about the consequences of us dyeing. The straw haired girl was now shaking like a loose leaf in the wind, seeing her frightened state made lily's determination slide a bit; Lily had to remind herself, repeatability of why she was here without letting her terrible memory take over her blank mind. The black hair boy to Lily's left looked bored and calm like he has been in this position many times before. There were ten of us on the stage at this point in time; Lily assumed that once someone was gone they'd be replaced while the audience attension was on another subject.
The spotlight started on a boy who was in the seventh position starting from the left, Lily was in the fifth position and her chains were much looser than the girls next to her; Lily's mind wondered from the 'monster ' - the bidders to the other 'products'- the enslaved people. Lily would feel sickened by these sorts of people as they were bidding over ownership over a life, but for a new life this was the only way Lily could see that happening.
Lily could see the faint glowing of greedy and lustful eyes; well there was vampires, sick wolves, and serval unidentified creatures of the moon and with each one of them looking for a new plaything or pet to care for and abuse. It really all depended on why we are bought, this will discern our title amongst their master.
After a long while the spotlight was placed on Lily and the surprise of which pulled her unwillingly out of her thoughts. Thoughts on the auction, the bidders and the nightmarish past. When her eyes adjusted to the blinding light, Lily realised that the spotlight wasn't on her but instead on the straw hair girl how began to silent cry as Lily let out annoyed sighted; Lily really didn't want this bright light on her, it really hurt her mango eyes and just wanted to be bought so this could be over and done with. Now Lily was paying full attention to the auction hall, she could hear the conductor saying.
"This one was bought in by Mr.H and I must say what a good choice, we will be starting at two hundred pounds" He sounded gleeful but Lily knew that she could let her thoughts fade into blissfully nothingness and wonder once more.
What seemed to be hours of bidding, insane sounding prices and highly annoying announcing, Lily finally noticed that the spotlight wasn't on her but on the person next to her but she didn't care either way. Lilys mind was full of fake hope but anything would be better than going back to her family. Lily couldn't help but notice that she was one of the last people on the stage and couldn't help but notice that several eyes of the audience changed. Lily shifted around uncomfortably under the mass of stares over her bruised and abused body.
