THE RAIN THAT seemed to be a never ending cycle of depression poured down on the lively streets of London.

Walking amongst the rain to the University of London was Briar Addison and her best friend since the last year of sixth form, Bexley Reese.

Briar has always been seen as the damsel in distress kind of girl. Always getting herself into situations she simply couldn't get herself out of.

Comprehensive school for Briar was brutal to say the least. She had no friends. Considering she went to a private school with other stuck up rich children meant that she didn't quite get along with them.

They were rude, snobbish, cocky, bitchy, and over all mean. Briar wasn't, and still isn't, any of those things. Briar wanted to lend her help to under privileged people, take part in any charitable event possible, try her very best in school to make her parents proud. Thus, making her the insane loner girl.

Nothing she publicly did made people believe that she was insane; at least she doesn't think so anyway. But behind closed doors, panic attacks filled with overwhelming anxiety consumed her.

People thought that she had nothing to worry about, nothing to feel anxious about. But, little do they know that she has every right to act this way.

Her parents constant nagging for her to always do better at something. The way they scolded her for not acting the proper way, or dressing the proper way, or even speaking the proper way. The way they picked which universities she would apply to and which course she should pick in order for her to succeed in getting a proper future.

Briar loves dance. Ballet, to be exact. Her parents put her into ballet classes when she was a little girl in order for her to understand proper poise and elegance.

When she dances, you can practically see the adoration on her face and the elegance flow through her movements.

But, whenever she gets into a social situation where she feels too much pressure or feels the greedy eyes of the press watching her every move, her elegance and poise crumbles to millions upon millions of shards.

Dancing is the only way she feels in control of her movements, her anxiety being replaced with confidence. Shaking hands filled with nerves replaced with steady hands ready hold her balance. Jelly like legs making her topple over replaced with straight legs being lifted by her beloved pointe shoes, holding her high in the air like a delicate swan. Her back, usually hung down low so no one will see her nerve riddled face, replaced with the best posture a ballet dancer could wish for.

Briar so badly wanted to apply for a dance scholarship in a nearby university, but deep down under the hopes and dreams of the young and naive Briar Addison, she really did know that her parents would never allow such thing to happen.

Therefore, Briar was told by her parents that she will apply for a business course at whatever university they say. As always, Briar complied because she didn't want to disappoint anyone, especially Anastasia and George Addison. Also known as Briar's parents.
