"Kuya ang sabi ko padala ako sa botika, bingi ka ba?!"

I reached for her hand that was pinching my cheeks and tried to lessen her grip, but it felt like this woman's knuckles were made of steel.

You should never look into the depths of their eyes.

I watched her shrinking figure. Her arms were sturdy but shaking. Her expression screamed fear, confusion, and..

A cruel nostalgia

Ah, I've seen this before. With her muscular body and strength, she must have been a former cadet

I noticed the presence behind her had suddenly vanished.

Well, that's odd. Did they just stalk this woman or did my presence made them change their plan?

"Please..." the woman spoke suddenly, jolting me from my thoughts. I look at her eventually, mine meeting her unfamiliar light brown eyes again.

What will I gain if I help this woman? She's not my problem.

My hands shifted and held on to her arm. I am not a psychiatrist, but I'm acquainted with some. It will be troublesome if I abandon her. There are already witnesses who saw my face and if this woman ends up killing herself, the blame will be on me since I'm the last man she's been with. I will lose everything and Shaina will win without lifting a finger. I can't let that happen.

Besides, what's new about acting? This could be my golden ticket to heaven.

This girl should not be a problem...

"Kailangan nating tumawid ng overpass," I said sullenly, eyes darting on the other side of the road.

I was caught off guard when she began to hyperventilate loudly.

"Hey," I mutter quietly, my voice was strangely soft. "Take a deep breath."

She nods frantically, desperate to hang onto my words as she tried to balance her breath. Her hand on my face was now on my chest, warm and resting. As she trembles against me, I get a trace of her raw, aromatic moisturizer, hiding under the wet scent of sweat that her hair is producing.

"Today is June 25, 2018," I said while grasping her face with my palms. "You are currently on the sidewalk of Katipunan Avenue, Quezon City. You are... safe.

Well, shit, not really.

"You are in control."

Lying.

It's not new to me.

I guided her to the stairs of the overpass, and she looked really, really exhausted just by looking at the steps.

"Move," I said, that came out like a command. "I'll be right behind you."

"Hindi," she refused.

My brow furrowed.
