My favorite quote from the book : "Because the possibility of pain is where love stems from. And that, for me, was very bad news indeed."

Description :

Our hero, Professor Andrew Martin, is dead before the book even begins. As it turns out, though, he wasn't a very nice man--as the alien imposter who now occupies his body discovers. Sent to Earth to destroy evidence that Andrew had solved a major mathematical problem, the alien soon finds himself learning more about the professor, his family, and "the humans" than he ever expected. When he begins to fall for his own wife and son--who have no idea he's not the real Andrew--the alien must choose between completing his mission and returning home or finding a new home right here on Earth.

NON-SPOILER SECTION

Weirdly, this book made me appreciate humanity and made me feel grateful to be apart of it.

It's so entertaining to see what the alien thinks of us humans and seeing him struggle to understand why we do certain things

It's so entertaining to see what the alien thinks of us humans and seeing him struggle to understand why we do certain things. And the way he words things is so funny, for example he calls killing 'switching a human life into non existence' lmao there are a lot more but I don't remember. The first few chapters are so funny because he has no idea what he's doing since he isn't used to living on earth. His interactions with Andrew's (the man he's supposed to pretend to be) wife and son are so hilarious. I don't wanna spoil anything so please read it if you haven't. I was cackling like a mad woman throughout the first half of the book.

At some point he says "Humans, as a rule, don't like mad people unless they are good at painting, and only then once they are dead." LMAO I died. And then another time he says, "The flowers were beautiful. Flowers, after love, must have been the best advert planet Earth had going for it." I love that.
