My favorite quote from the book : "If you've got the opportunity to love someone as much as they love you, then grab it with both hands and hold on to it for dear life."
Description :
How far would you go to find The One?
A simple DNA test is all it takes. Just a quick mouth swab and soon you'll be matched with your perfect partner the one you are genetically made for.
That's the promise made by Match Your DNA. A decade ago, the company announced that they had found the gene that pairs each of us with our soul mate. Since then, millions of people around the world have been matched. But the discovery has its downsides: test results have led to the breakup of countless relationships and upended the traditional ideas of dating, romance and love.
Now five very different people have received the notification that they've been "Matched." They're each about to meet their one true love. But "happily ever after" isn't guaranteed for everyone. Because even soul mates have secrets. And some are more shocking than others...
NON-SPOILER SECTION
This book was definitely a page-turner for me. It grabbed my attention from the very first page to the last one. It's not that short but it felt like it because I was flying through it in one sitting. The chapters were pretty short and almost always ended with cliffhangers which made it impossible to stop reading.
The idea of finding your true soulmate through an app is such an interesting concept, and it's executed really well in my opinion. And the fact that we're following the story of 10 people made me enjoy it so much. I definitely recommend you to check it out. Especially if you like the show Black Mirror because John Marrs's books definitely have that vibe.
I heard it's being adapted into a Netflix series but for some reason they're being quiet about it🤷
(Edit : March 2, 2021 : The trailer came out... And it's very disappointing. Seems like they've changed everything I loved about the book. Can't say more before watching the show tho.)
(Mar 15 : Okay... I watched it... and I didn't hate it. That's all I can say.)
SPOILER SECTION
I was equally intrigued about all five storylines for the most part, but Christopher's story was the one I was most anxious about. I started feeling bad for him and wanted her to forgive him and couldn't help but wish for them to live happily ever after. But it was pretty clear that wouldn't happen because he's a psychopath murderer. I felt bad for her because it must've been hard for her to kill the man she loves.
Nick and Jade had their happy endings so.. nothing left to say about that lol and I felt bad for Mandy because of all the shit she had to go through.
Ellie went back to being the cold person she was which is pretty sad, but I was surprised with how things turned out. I did not suspect him at all because he seemed so nice. What a shocking plot twist that he was planning to ruin her life! I trusted him!
As you can tell I didn't rant as much as I usually do because I forgot so many things that happened in this book! It's been a year since I read it and all I remember is how much I loved it!
