It was a usual crowd, at the restaurant where you worked. The soft music playing through the speakers as you and your band prepared for debut of the night. You worked as a lounge singer in an Italian restaurant, you also taught singing privately to several students and on occasion you waitressed for the same restaurant you were currently singing at. As you started to set up, the doors to the restaurant opened up and a large family were ushered in by the frigid air. Glancing up you saw it was your friend and his family walking in, your band members all smirked at you knowing about your crush on the lanky detective.

You had met Dominick 'call me Sonny' Carisi during a coffee run, he had crashed into you when he had been attempting to balance the round of coffees that he had obviously been sent to get. "I am sorry, doll. I didn't see ya there, can I get you another to make up for spashlin' yours all over?" His Staten Island drawl with Italian roots had interested you. You had accepted his offer of buying you another coffee, and after finding out you were heading the same way you had chatted the length of the street as you walked. The both of you had exchanged numbers, but he had been in a relationship when you had met, and so your friendship had grown over the months you had spent together. You had introduced him to your friend group, which was largely your band members, and he had introduced you to his squad; one night when you had brought them all dinner as they worked through the night. While spending most of your free time with Sonny, you realised that your feelings for him were changing, you began to feel as though you wanted to be more than friends. Unfortunately, this revelation came when Sonny's relationship had broken down, so you decided to wait until he was ready or felt similar before telling him of your feelings. What you didn't know was that the sunny detective's feelings for you had changed as well, he now wanted to be the one who held you in his arms.

As your band finished setting up, Sonny looked up and over at the set up. He saw you talking with the manager, his sister Bella saw her brother looking wistful. She smiled seeing where he was looking, seeing it was at you. Bella wanted to interfere, but she was sick of the pining on both sides and how she kept seeing the longing looks that the pair of you would throw at each other. Gina had noticed her younger brother was distracted and the way that he would look at you, she wanted her little brother to be happy with you. Teresa was just fed up with the longing looks and was seriously getting tempted to shove both you and her brother into an empty room and not let you out until you had admitted your feelings. Thankfully, she had been talked down from that ledge by her younger sisters.

Sonny watched his family as they had a quieter dinner than normal, mostly because they were in public and his mother had a worry about how they were perceived. His large family was taking up a small section of the restaurant. There was him, his father, Dominick Carisi Sr. his mother, Beatrice Maria Carisi, his older sisters, Gina Carisi, Teresa Morino; her young daughters, Mia who was entering college and her sister who was in high school, Elisabetta Isabella Morino. Bella and Tommy were joined by their toddler daughter, Andrea Maria Sullivan.

As the night wore on, you sang several well-known Italian songs including his parent's wedding song, Sonny knew that he had once told you that, on one long paperwork filled night. The song had made his mother well up with tears and his father pull her out of her chair for a dance out of the way. He had hidden a smile behind his fingers and had looked over at you, he had snuck a look at you catching you throw a wink at him as you sang the last few bars. You let the notes linger in the air, before singing anther song. "Why's uncle Sonny staring at the singer?" Elisabetta asked, despite knowing full well why her uncle was staring at you. Sonny snapped back to face the table, "I wasn't staring." Bella and her sisters both snorted, Tommy wisely stayed out of it. His mother smiled indulgently at her only son. "Someone has a crush." Bella sang under her breath, Sonny glared at his sister before petulantly muttering, "no I don't." Teresa snorted once more, "please you have a crush on that girl as sure as the moon rises and causes the tides." Sonny was about to protest when you spoke over the microphone, he fell silent to listen.
