While you were wandering around engineering, you began to catalogue everything that needed to be done. Some pipes needed to be replaced; some wires were exposed which needed changing. Various other red shirts were walking around the hissing pipes. Running your scanner along a section of wires in the small box where they were housed. The scanner told you that they were fine, they didn't need to swap them out. You headed over to where Scotty had been the last time you saw him, he wasn't there. His kit was missing as was the pieces of pipe that had been removed. You heard a Scottish accent bouncing off the walls as its owner shouted at something. Turning the corner, you found the Scottish man yelling at a couple of wires which were broken and in scattered pieces, Keenser was picking up a few pieces and was trying to fit them together.

You leaned against the small section of wall, watching as Scotty swore at and attempted to fix the wire that were sparking. There was a jolt, you slipped off the wall and stumbled, you banged your head hard against the wall. You didn't fall on your feet as you managed to regain your balance. There was blood trickling down your forehead, you could feel its steady presence on your skin. Keenser had fallen as well, he was getting to his feet. During the jolt, Scotty had slipped and placed two wires together which had caused a shocking number of sparks to fly everywhere. The lights flickered before going out completely. There were faint lights of the emergency lights showing pathways. Scotty let loose a bunch of Gaelic swear words that you couldn't understand. "Well at least it wasn't the gravity." Scotty shrieked, a very high-pitched girlish scream for a Scottish man. He turned and saw you illuminated in the low light. "Lass you didn't give me half a fright there." Keenser was laughing, the wheeze making your own lips twitch up. "It's not funny, you could have made me shock myself." You shrugged, apologising with a grin that wasn't all that apologetic.

Scotty's communicator buzzed, he flushed but you couldn't really tell in the low light. "Could you get that lass, its' in my back pocket?" He lifted the wires in his hands in a silent explanation as to why he couldn't. You moved towards Scotty as your own skin flushed with heat as you fumbled in his back pocket pulling the communicator out for him. You realised that you could have taken the wires but at the time noted you didn't have the protective gloves to do so. You flicked it open and answered the call. "Scotty! What going on with the lights?" Scotty furrowed his eyebrows, "Are they out all over the ship cap'n?" Scotty asked the heat disappearing from his cheeks as the embarrassment of having you pull the communicator out of his back pocket. "Yeah! And I'd like them back on please." You rolled your eyes and muttered under your breath. "Be thankful its not the gravity." There was a pause, "Is that Ensign L/N?" You gave an affirmative. "L/N is hurt, cap, they've got blood on their forehead." Speaking over him you told Kirk that you were okay. Scotty rolled his eyes, "Can you get the power back on? We're dark without it, and it's beginning to knock out all systems. Life support is the only thing not affected." Scotty promised he would get everything back on.

The lights flickered back on after more curse words that flew over your head and sparks flew past your fingers as you assisted Scotty now wearing your own protective gloves. Scotty sighed, his entire body sagging in relief as he placed the cover back on the wire box. The Enterprise was now back in working condition. You sighed heavily, and Scotty inspected your cut, titling his chin up to point at it. "You should get that seen to." As you were about to respond, when Bones and Kirk entered the area you were both in along with a red shirt. The red shirt informed Scotty that there was another problem in another part of engineering. Scotty ran off with the red shirt and Kirk. Bones stayed with you and used his medical equipment to seal your skin back together. He made sure you didn't have concussion or any other serious injures before he joined you and Keenser in joining Scotty and Kirk. There was a mess of pipes and a few red shirts groaning in pain, Bones called for more medical assistance and began to help the ones closed to him. Kirk was called back to the bridge while you and Scotty as well as the red shirt who had come to grab Scotty earlier began fixing the pipes that were hissing madly. There was another jolt which made everyone stumble, there was the loud alarm which informed you that Kirk was about to make an announcement. There was crackling over the system but the basics of it was that the Enterprise was under attack from some unknown ship.

The hissing pipes were fixed quickly, and the injured red shirts headed over to the med bay. "What do ya think he said lass?" You looked over at Scotty, he was coated in sweat, streaks of grease and dirt, his hair was mussed and had grease streaks through it. You leaned your back against the wall and slid down into a sitting position as the ship jolted once more due the attack. "Hi I'm Captain Kirk." You got to your feet once more and ran off in the directions of where a loud explosion had sounded after your guess. Scotty's laugh followed you.

You managed to patch the hole, as it wouldn't hold for long, but it would do for now. Pulling out your own communicator you called Scotty for help when another blast tore a hole in your patch. Scotty arrived and began hurriedly you along with some red shirts. One got thrown into a wall when there was a massive jolt that swept the floor from underneath you all. As you could to your feet, there was another alarm announcing that Kirk was going to make an announcement. As he explained what was going on and how the attacking ship had left and that the Enterprise was going to continue its mission. You and Scotty looked at the hole that was in the side of ship before looking at each other. Kirk looked out of the video announcement and finished off the call. "To boldly go." Scotty who was covered in engine detritus still on the floor from the last jolt, looked at the video announcement before looking back at the hole you and the red shirts were desperately trying to patch before he quipped to the hologram of Kirk. "Bold of you to assume we're going anywhere."
