Admittedly this one kinda got away from me.

Glancing up as your office door opened, Chin walked in with a stack of files. As the NCIS liaison for the Five-0 taskforce, you often would bring cases to Five-0 that NCIS needed their assistance on, generally due the case being based Hawaii. You also worked as a translator for both agencies, mostly for Five-0 due to being based with them. You had a rocky relationship with Five-0 and answered to Hetty for NCIS. As you were translating Cantonese for a case that Hetty was working on when there was a knock on the door. "Come in, Chin." You looked up as you finished the phrase you were working on. Chin entered your office, "how did you know it was me?" You gave a heavy sigh leaning back in your chair, "You are the only one who knocks. Kono occasionally calls ahead but she usually emails questions. Steve hardly ever comes and if he does, he barges in. But that's rare. Danny usually calls when he has questions; he doesn't really like me. Must listen to Steve's rants." You gave a shaky laugh, before looking at Chin. Chin knew your past with Steve. You gave him a strained smile, wiping your eyes. Looking back at Chin, you cleared your throat. "How can I help you?" He handed you the stack of files. "Do you have time to translate these? They're urgent." You flipped through the files, "how urgent?" Chin looked down at his hands, "need them as soon as possible." You sighed. "You are lucky that I just finished the work for Hetty." Chin smiled, "very." You placed the files on your desk, "I'll get them to you as soon as I can, I just have to finish this email to Hetty." Chin nodded, but he didn't leave. "You need anything?" You looked over at him, giving him a small smile. "Nothing, I'm fine."

Chin looked at his hands, before looking at you. "Seriously though, you okay? I mean working with Steve and HPD probably wasn't your first choice, given what happened." You buried your head in your hands. "Well I didn't have much of a choice, not many people want to work with an agent who supposedly mishandled evidence so that a murderer could walk free. But he was recaptured and tired and put away. Of course, I'm accused by a murderer and everyone who I thought were my friends abandoned me because they so easily believed I could do something like this. I lost someone who I thought knew me well enough to know I could never betray my country or my agency, and who didn't bother to even listen to me at all. But, hey, at least here I have a great ocean view from my home and freedom. All I had to lose was my reputation and well, my friends." Chin looked at you, noting the tears threatening to spill over. You sniffed wiping at your eyes. "Sorry." Chin waved it away. "I'll...uh translate these for you and get them back as soon as I can." Chin nodded. He got up and began to head to the door. He paused when he opened it. "I know that there's a lot of bad blood between you and Steve, but I think that you're a great agent and you've been treated horribly by those you should have been able to trust. I'm really sorry that you went through all of that. And if you need to talk, I'm here and I'll buy the first round." You chuckled slightly.

After Chin left, you picked up your phone and opened the gallery; you swiped to an unnamed folder and opened it up. You opened a photo, you and Steve from happier times. Steve had his arm wrapped around your shoulders, pulling you against his chest. You were smiling at the camera while, Steve had a loving look directed towards you. Steve was wearing his Navy uniform and you were in a summer dress, the fit and flare sundress showing your form off. The lighter blue of the dress and the small white flowers clashed with Navy design. Your heart ached as you looked at the photo, you could practically feel the warm air and smell the plumeria that was stuck behind your ear. The variant white and yellow of the petals stood out in the photo, the flower had been a gift from Steve when you had seen him, his father being the one to take the photo of the pair of you. Locking your phone, you pulled yourself away from memory lane, to the present to work on the files that Chin had dropped off.

The elevator doors opened, and you walked out towards the rest of Five-0 who were standing around the tabletop computer. It was Kono who saw you first, she straightened up but otherwise didn't move. Steve turned at Kono's change in posture, he saw you and made the screen go blank. You sighed internally as you walked towards them, you could tell that when Chin turned and saw it was you, he had the same thought running through his head. Danny turned and saw it was you, his face slipped into a mask of indifference. Steve's, however, was hard and cold. You held out the files, Chin stepped forward to take them, but Steve sent him a hard look. You dropped them on the tabletop computer. "Translations are done, they are paperclipped to the page they relate too. The writer is a native speaker, he uses common phrases that don't translate to English well and can't be translated from English. If you have any other questions, feel free to call or email." Chin flipped through the file as you spoke, a cop appeared behind you with a courier beside him. "This arrived for you agent L/N, it needs to be signed for." The courier held out an envelope, he explained where to sign for it. The cop explained further, "I saw you arrive." You thanked the cop and the courier, taking the envelope. He left escorting the courier out while you turned back to Five-0. Chin saw the way you stubbornly refused to look at the envelope and catch Steve's gaze. He caught a glance at the NCIS insignia on the corner. The silence was loud; you adamantly refusing to back down from Steve's glare, Steve glaring at the wall over your shoulder. Danny was giving you a dirty look, Kono meanwhile just a dirty look on her face. You turned on your heel and left, your heart aching with the feelings you were trying so hard to hide. The door slid closed in front of you.
