Dinner with the 'WHOLE' Family

Chapter 22

Everyone had been waiting for Adrian when he came down, they saw how he was a surprise. They were confused, why is having a whole family dinner surprising? They thought. "Adrian, why are you standing there? Come here, let's eat already. I'm hungry." His uncle said joyfully. Ezekiel couldn't help but giggled nothing changed his uncle. Childish when he left and childish when he returns. Adrian couldn't help but be confused while sitting beside his uncle. "What the hell happened?" he mumbled quietly.

Adrian was silently eating while listening to their conversation. Philip noticed how silent he was, "Oi, my nephew. What's happening to you? You look rather not yourself like usual. Did something happen? And your stubbornness is not there?" Philip teased him that made Adrian narrowed his eyes at Philip while he just laughed. Adrian gave up staring at him and sighed. Philip apologized what he did was teasing his niece but even though he apologized he didn't help but laugh since Adrian was frowning and narrowing his eyes at him. "Hey, frown boy. Stop that. Forgive this uncle of yours. And oh, I bought you something. Not just you, of course, it's for the three of you." He said while looking at each of Ashlyn, Ezekiel, and Adrian. "Ashlyn dear, I hope you liked my gift for you. For coming to this family." Philip lastly said. While Ashlyn just gave him a small smile and nod. "Brother Adrian, are you really alright?" Ashlyn then asked, when Adrian heard his name mentioned he looked at Ashlyn who was still poker-faced but yet worried. For some reason, Adrian deviously grinned, "Well, and is it, my fake sister, worrying about me. You're so thoughtful you are caring for your non-blood-related brother. Heard you got sick and you almost fell from the stairs. Alas, it's a pity you didn't fall. You know my birthday is about to come why not grant me a wish coz my wish is for you to disappear" he muttered. The lively dinner hall became a sinful silence. Their father banged the table he furiously bring-up Adrian's name.

Philip was panicking and confronting Victor to calmed down and just talk it through. Victor had been controlling his ferocity against his own son Adrian. On the other hand, Ezekiel is trying hard to stop showing how panicked he is on the inside his mind is all messed up because of Adrian's stubbornness. While Ashlyn stayed quiet and watched how her father and brother are fighting and scolding each other. Ashlyn didn't bother herself in their fight she stands and walks out of the dining room. Her father, her uncle, and her brothers followed Ashlyn's steps that were leaving her chair to walk outside. Their looks then followed Adrian who was simply trying to escape them. The tension became tenser when they saw him about to escape. Because the tension was deadly all the maids that surrounded them, rushed to excuse themselves and leave the room, "Guards, don't let anyone go in this dining hall until we come out." Victor said enraged. The guards with no word obediently shut the door and guarded the outside of the dining room.

"Ezekiel, Philip, hold Adrian and come here," Victor said with authority. "Adrian" Philip hummed Adrian's name. Adrian keeps struggling since Ezekiel and Philip are holding his arms on both sides. Ezekiel took off his hand at Adrian's arm so he could sit and stood beside their father. While Philip was left in his side to guard him. His father took a deep breath before speaking. "You brat, why the hell did you said that to your sister?! You foul-mouthed spoiled brat. And why the angels do you have to wish that Ashlyn disappear. I'll ground you after you and Ezekiel's birthday party." His father scolds Adrian while hitting Adrian's head, Adrian wasn't affected by his words. Let's just say he's already used to it. "Adrian, I didn't raise you to be like that. Adrian, please accept that Charlotte is gone, Ashlyn is here. You can treat her like a real sister lik-----" Adrian blood boiled hearing what his father said - 'Treat her like a real sister?' that sentenced made him angry. Philip flinched when Adrian suddenly stood, he bumped him while running towards the door of the dining hall. It's a relief that Philip didn't fall, "Why?! Why?! Why should I treat her like a real sister?! Until Charlotte's body hasn't been found nor her bones. My only sister will only and always be Charlotte. Nothing will change it. No living or dead person will change it."

Victor didn't refrain he was about to approach Adrian to scold him for raising his voice at them. But yet Philip stopped him by holding both his arms at the back, Victor was struggling. While Ezekiel was also about to approach Adrian to confront him. A loud banged was heard in and out of the dining room. Adrian, kicked the door knowing it was locked from the outside. Ezekiel still chased Adrian hoping he can talk to him. While Victor's anger erupted, he didn't want to break the plates on the table or make a commotion. "Philip, I'm going to go back to my room," he said then leave. Philip was dumbfounded he just got back and many things have happened. "That kid," he sighed, referring to Adrian.
