The longer Grian was on the server, the less weird it felt.

He felt like he really belonged there.

A couple of weeks after he had gone to the End, and he had started feeling like a real Hermit.

He built a base.

Started a shop.

Talked to other Hermits.

Made diamonds.

Made friendships.

The Architects and Sahara were two things that he was the most proud of.

His main base, aka the modern cake, and his towering village house in Hermitville also made that list.

Things were starting to feel... normal.

At least, Grian thought so.

Grian studied his wrists. One thing that he had noticed was that his magic had started to get... stronger. He was discovering new quirks about it nearly every day. It was odd, but he dismissed it as simply more time and care being put into his magic since he knew how to embrace it.

Grian flicked his wrist, then nearly yelped in surprise as a bolt of magic flew out and zapped a nearby book. Grian hastily grabbed it, relieved when he noticed no damage. However, the book, despite being in his house, wasn't his. Turning the book over, Grian made a mental note to return the book to its owner, Mumbo.

Suddenly, Grian felt a tugging at his conscious. It was a pull, a voice, a suctioning grab. Grian blinked in confusion, then slipped into his mindspace. He was used to it by now. Besides, it wouldn't hurt to check on Bdubs and Keralis.

Grian had been working for months to try and get those two back. They had made progress, now able to communicate 'verbally'. But Grian was still at a loss for how to properly bring them back.

A part of him worried it wouldn't be possible.

Grian. There you are.

That wasn't Bdubs or Keralis.

"Who are you?" Grian asked, immediately on edge.

Relax. You know me, sort of.

"Care to explain?" Grian's inner voice was sarcastic.

Do you remember when your mindspace glitched?

"Yes," Grian replied. "Very vividly."

Do you happen to remember the voice that helped you escape?

It all came rushing back.

"Oh, it's you!" Grian found a new excitement.

What are you doing here?

"What, in the mindspace?"

Yes.

"I come here, like, all the time!"

Odd. I haven't noticed you.

"What do you MEAN you haven't noticed me?!"

I've been tracking your mind, and you haven't stepped into the mindspace in months!

"YOU'VE WHAT-"

Oh hush, would you? Overreacting, that's what you're doing.

"You're telling me I'm OVERREACTING after learning that someone's STALKING MY BRAIN???"

Well... now it sounds bad...

"NOW?!"

Look, your distracting me. I have something I need to do.

"So do I! That's why I'm here."

Oh? And what is it you need to do?

"There are two spirits trapped in my mindspace. I need to free them."

...I think I can help you.

"WHAT?"

Free them. Take me to them, and I can probably help. I have a lot of energy in my reserves.

"How do I take you?"

Simple. Just go there. I'll follow.

"Okay."

And that was that.

Grian had made a deal with a voice inside his head.

Wonderful.

Grian slowly made his way to the crevice in his head that Bdubs and Keralis stayed in. He stepped into the 'room'.

"Hi."

The heads of the spirits whipped towards him.

"Hello!" Bdubs greeted him cheerfully.

Oh. I recognize these two.

Bdubs and Keralis froze at the voice.

"Who- what-" Keralis stuttered.

This'll be easy, with both of our powers, Watcher. Brace yourself, prisoners. We're breaking you out today.

"Easy?" Grian yelped. "I've been trying to do this for months!!"

Understandable. But now you have me.

The world turned magenta.

Not like Grian's magic, which was lavender.

Like someone else's magic.

The voice's magic.

Grian slowly began pouring in his own magic, unsure of what he was doing. However, when the voice didn't object, Grian felt a flash of confidence and started speeding up the process.

A migraine flashed behind his eyes, sending flames of pain rattling his skull.

It was like pushing past a barrier.

And suddenly, that barrier exploded.

A scream.

Cold.

Warm.

Pain.

Flashing lights.

Claws of darkness.

Shadows of agony.

Husks of souls.

Bring it to life.

One.

Two.

Three.

It's done.

I wonder if all of them survived that...
