Band AU

Kasamatsu's POV

I strummed my electric guitar, making sure it was in tune for today's band practice. The others were idly practicing scales on their own instruments when the door opened, revealing the last member and lead singer of the band.

"Oi Kise," I said to the blond. "Did you confirm our spot for the talent show?"

He smiled nervously and looked away. "Uhm. . . about that. . ."

I furrowed my eyebrows, trying my best not to groan. Trust Kise to mess up something as simple as that. "What did you do?"

"I. . . it's nothing serious! I was just talking to the manager of the show, she's a really pretty girl and—"

"Get to the point!" I snapped.

"Imayormaynothavepromisedherthatwewouldplayanoriginalsongfortheshow."

"What??"

Kise took in a deep breath and began to speak slower. "I said, I may or may not have promised her that we would play an original song for the show."

"WHAT?!" I shouted without meaning to. I swore my voice went an octave higher and I coughed, hearing the other band members laugh. I glared at Kise. "Kise you idiot, we don't have any original songs! We just do covers!"

"I know, I know," he said, scratching the back of his neck. "But it could be a really good idea! We just need to write a song and we'll be fine!"

"That's easier said than done." I grumbled.

"I could write our song!" Moriyama piped up from his keyboard.

"No," I said immediately. "We're not having a sappy love song."

"Well there goes all of my ideas."

I tried to think. Who could get us out of our predicament? Then I remembered something. "(L/n)'s a writer. But I don't know if she does songs."

"(L/n)?" Moriyama repeated, recognition flashing in his eyes. "It's worth a shot."

"Right then," I said. "Who's going to speak to her?"

"Well Kasamatsu-senpai, you're the one who suggested her," Kise said.

"I'm not speaking to her! Moriyama, you do it." I looked to him. "You like girls."

"We haven't talked, though. And besides, you're our club leader."

"GO AND TALK TO HER KASAMATSU-SAN!" Hayakawa shouted next to me, nearly blasting my eardrums off.

"Kobori?" I turned to our normally dependable tech guy who had his noise-cancelling headphones over his ears, solely to protect his own eardrums from Hayakawa's loudness during performances. "Are you not gonna do anything? I'm getting bullied just 'cause of that idiot!" I jabbed an accusing finger at Kise.

"I don't believe I heard anything." Kobori chuckled, and I scowled in return. "(L/n)'s really nice. It'll be easy to talk to her."

"Easy for you, you mean," I muttered under my breath. But it wasn't like I had a choice. We needed a songwriter for the show and (L/n) was our only bet. I sure as hell couldn't write lyrics and the others couldn't either. I sighed and began the starting chords I always played when it was time to start practice. The others got the message and began to chime in as we played our most popular cover, Touch-Tone Telephone by Lemon Demon. Hopefully I won't become a laughing stock in front of her tomorrow.

(F/n)'s POV

"I'm telling you (F/n), if your future boyfriend doesn't appreciate fruit puns then you gotta let that mango," my best friend said, a goofy grin on his/her face.
