(F/n)'s POV

"Hit it back (F/n)-chan!" My older brother, Oikawa Tooru called out to me. I was watching the white ball sailing high into the air.

"I got it Tooru-nii!" I jumped up and flicked it with my fingertips like I had practiced so many times before, and it arched back to my anticipating brother who tossed it back to me with the same technique. The volleyball danced from our hands, bouncing back and forth so many times I lost count until I missed a too far pass from Oikawa and the ball rolled into the garden bushes.

"Good job!" Oikawa said, coming over to ruffle my hair, "I can't wait until you come to Kitagawa Daiichi! We'll be the best setters on the volleyball teams!"

"I can't wait either!" I said just as excitedly. Oikawa was two years older than me. He was going to be a third year in junior high while I had just finished primary school and would be in my first year.

"Tooru! (F/n)!" Our mother called from inside the house. "I need to talk to you!"

Oikawa quickly ran to get the volleyball and we went inside.

"Yes Mom?" I said, wondering what she wanted to say to us.

She beckoned us over to the living room and we followed her. "Sit down please."

Oikawa and I exchanged a confused look, but we complied and sat down together on the couch.

"Mom, what's wrong?" Oikawa asked. He had sensed that something was off too.

She sat down in the armchair across from us. "(F/n)," she said gently. "I tried to apply you to Tooru's middle school but they turned you down."

"What?!" Oikawa blurted out before I could even process what our mother had said. He looked at her desperately. "You can try again, right Mom? Me and (F/n)-chan are supposed to be the best setters in our school! I already told everyone about her and they all want to meet her!"

Our mother shook her head apologetically. "I'm sorry Tooru. Applications are closed now. But I tried a different school that's near yours and she got accepted." She turned to me and smiled. "It's called Teiko. You might like it."

"Teiko?" I repeated, frowning. When I entered elementary school Oikawa had shown me around everywhere and a lot of my friends were ones that he had made. He was always there to guide me as my brother and upperclassman. How would I deal with a new school without him there?

"It's okay (F/n)-chan," Oikawa said, giving me a bright smile, "we can be the best players of both schools. I'll handle Kitagawa Daiichi. You'll be the best in Teiko!"

I smiled back at him, nodding eagerly. "Hai!" I'd definitely make him proud of me.

The first day of junior high came quickly. I was fizzing with anticipation and woke up before my alarm went off, rushing out of bed to get ready in my new uniform. I came into the kitchen, wearing my blue buttoned shirt and white blazer. Oikawa walked in just a few moments later, dressed in his Kitagawa Daiichi uniform.

"Look at my two kids, all grown up now," our mother said, smiling proudly at the both of us.

"I grew up two years ago," Oikawa said snootily, but his eyes were full of warmth and pride as he gazed at me, "come on then." He fixed the collar of my shirt and patted my head, making sure he didn't mess up my hair.

"Have fun at school (F/n)," our mother said to me. She then turned to Oikawa. "Good luck Tooru. Set a good example for the other kids."

"I will Mom!" He promised.

After making sure we had everything, Oikawa and I began our walk to school. We met his friend Iwaizumi on the way and we all talked the entire way to their school.
