I had been at Tōō Academy for a week now. The semester had started off smoothly and I liked my classmates and classes. I even made some friends already and had a club that I really enjoyed.

It was the start of another day and my class was waiting for our first teacher to come in. The door opened a few minutes later and we all quieted down. It was our teacher as expected, but following her was a dark skinned boy. Everyone perked up at the sight of the new arrival. The boy looked foreign but he was wearing the Tōō uniform.

"Class, this is Aomine Daiki," Haruki-sensei said. "He's from Pakistan and his flight just came in yesterday which is why he wasn't here for the first week. He's still learning Japanese so I hope you will make him comfortable."

"Ohayō gozaimasu." We all greeted him respectfully.

"Aomine-san, you can sit next to (L/n)-san," she continued, pointing at the empty seat next to mine.

He wrinkled his nose and looked at her weirdly before nodding. He shuffled over quietly and threw his bag over his chair and sat down so Haruki-sensei could start the first lesson of the day. The classes were less relaxed than they had been at the very beginning of the semester and we were now hard at work learning material for the upcoming exams in May.

I let out a long sigh after the last lesson before lunch finished, setting my pencil down.

"(L-L/n)-san," a tentative voice spoke up behind me. It was Sakurai Ryo, the boys class representative for our class. "Are you ready for the committee meeting?"

On the first day of school we had been given exams to determine our rankings as well as the class representatives for each class. The male and female who scored the highest overall became the class reps, and I was my class's rep along with Sakurai.

"Hai," I answered him as I quickly packed my things away. But then I remembered about Aomine and turned to him. "Do you need help with anything before I go?"

He startled slightly, caught off guard by the question but asked, "Is there a quiet place for lunch? I don't want to go to the cafeteria."

"You can go to the library or the rooftop," I said. "The rooftop stairs are on the left. If you want to go to the library then it's right above the gym on the second floor. That way." I pointed in the right direction for him.

"Okay, thanks." He nodded and began packing up his own bag.

The class reps from all of the years were meeting up again. We had seen them on the first day of school where they had given us advice on how to be a good class rep and today we were going over the work that we'd be expected to do for the term. Thankfully as new class reps, me, Sakurai and the other first years weren't given as heavy jobs as the second and third years who already knew what they were doing, and we were dismissed from the committee meeting not long after, which I was grateful for. My stomach was growling with demands for food.

"Bye senpais!" Sakurai called as we left the meeting room.

"Bye, thank you very much!" I added after him.

He turned to me once we started walking down the hallway. "Do you. . . Do you want to come to the cafeteria for lunch?"

"Nah, I'm gonna go to the roof," I told him. "I bring my own lunch."

"A-ah, okay! See y-you later then."

"Jaa." I waved and turned to go up the stairs to the rooftop. The door was already propped open when I reached the top and I walked out into the bright sunshine. A few older students were relaxing at the umbrella covered tables, talking wistfully amongst each other. I saw a head of dark blue hair on the opposite side near the railing.
