Midorima's POV

It was another busy day at the hospital. I sighed, taking off my glasses to rub my eyes. I had just finished an hour long surgery and now had a stack of files for newly admitted patients to get through. I picked up one of them and began to flick through it. (L/n) (F/n) was printed neatly on the form and I skimmed over the vital information quickly. The patient was reported to have second degree burns from an accident.

Then I saw her birthdate and nearly choked, whirling to the secretary who was typing away at her computer. "Is there a typo on this?" I asked, holding up the file.

She looked up at me and squinted, frowning. "Let me see?"

I passed it to her and she checked over it. "My apologies, but I don't see a problem Midorima-san," she said as she gave it back to me.

"This girl is six years old and she has second degree burns, nanodayo?" I asked, raising my eyebrow.

The secretary blinked for a moment and then nodded as she looked back at her computer screen. "That is correct, Midorima-san," she said quietly.

I frowned but nodded. "I see. Thank you." I then gathered the files and went to the staff room. Several of the nurses were talking amongst each other since they didn't have anywhere immediate to be at the moment. A very familiar black haired male was sitting at one of the tables, a paper cup no doubtedly filled with coffee in his hand.

"Takao, come with me please," I said.

He perked up at my voice and nodded, downing the rest of his drink and said goodbye to the nurse he was talking to before joining me as I began walking to (F/n)'s hospital room.

"New patient?" Takao asked.

"Yes."

"Can I have a rundown?"

"Here." I didn't want to explain it to him so I gave him the file to read for himself. He didn't comment on it. If he was surprised like I had been, he didn't show it.

We reached the correct room and I rapped on the door, opening it slowly to see the young patient inside on the hospital bed, a woman who must be her mother standing beside her. It was a grim sight. The child's entire left arm was scalding red and it lay limp at her side. There were flecks of red on her face too; the boiling water must have splashed there as well. She winced as she struggled up into a sitting position.

"Good afternoon," I said to the mother. "I'm Doctor Midorima. This is Nurse Takao. We'll be taking care of your daughter during her stay."

"Thank you." She bowed and stepped aside for us.

"Hi (F/n)-chan!" Takao smiled cheerfully at the girl, bending down to her height. "I promise we'll make you better real soon. You can call me Kazu-chan if you want."

"T-thank you," she said meekly, an embarrassed smile on her face.

Takao began (F/n)'s physical, checking her heart rate and everything else that was included in a normal checkup while I worked on cleaning her arm with cool water and then bandaged it. Her face screwed up in silent pain as I started to apply the bandages but Takao kept her busy with conversation.
