Why is it like this? Everytime I look at him, it's almost as if I'm under a spell or something.

His perfect hair, his precious smile, his awesome laugh, the way he looks at everything kindly, it's euphoric.

It's like love, maybe.

"Hey, (Y/N)," I heard him call out, before taking a seat beside me.

We were currently in a random village with Inosuke, Zenitsu and Nezuko due to some mission, which was quite easy enough, to say the least. Following that,  we found a nice place to spend the night on.

"Oh, hey, Tanjiro." I replied, an immediate smile on my face. I can feel my cheeks burning up with just this stupidly close proximity of ours, and to be honest I didn't know if it was as obvious as I thought.

I looked around the front porch in a futile attempt to hide my flushed face. The fact that the others are probably sleeping at this moment made the mood feel a bit more personal, between us two.

"You know, there's this person that I've liked for quite some time now..." he begins as I keep my gaze on him, raising an eyebrow as if to silently ask him to continue. This wasn't the first time I had heard of him talking about  this person, and if I was being delusional, I'd say he was talking about me.

But anyhow, I always ended up doubting it.

"Yeah?" I mumble under my breath, unsure of what to think about it this time. "They uh, are they doing good?"

"Yeah... I guess," he continues, his gaze fixed on the wisteria tree in front of us, a tint of pink dusting his otherwise pale face. If I didn't know any better, I'd say this boy was smitten. "I mean, at least I hope so."

"Yeah? It sounds like you're not sure if they're fine, either." I chuckled, patting him on the back as if he was some kid I just met.

The gesture made Tanjiro laugh a bit before shaking his head slightly, "Come on, (Y/N), you know it's not like that..."

My gaze was glued to his features, and the way he laughed made a smile form on my face without me even knowing.

After a while I sighed a bit, my gaze focused now on the floor below us, all while feeling Tanjiro's gaze on me.

"Well, why don't you ask her out? Maybe she likes you too." I recommended while looking directly at him. God, I love those eyes.

I saw a smile form on his face again.

"Well, I could, but um, I just, you know..." He trailed off, his eyes focused ont he might sky above us, one littered with stars. "I just don't think that's a good idea."

At that I raised an eyebrow.

"Well, tell you what, you can practice your speech for her with me, yeah?" I offered, hoping for the best.

I knew he had it in him to confess to whoever it was he fancied, and by offering him a little help with it I could just ahve a passing fancy of witnessing him confess, even if it was just practice.

"That sounds like a good idea." he stated, although by now I was sure he got all embarrassed about my proposal to help.

After that he took a deep breath, probably to calm his frying nerves down, before he faced me completely, both hands holding mine, his dark irises focused on me as if I was the only thing that mattered.

"(Y/N), I've always liked you. The day I met you was one of the happiest days of my life." He started.

"You're beautiful, kind, awesome and just..." he sighed, "...just perfect." he said, his gaze dropping to the ground for a bit, presumably to remind himself to stay calm.

His face was as red as a tomato, and I could clearly feel his hands shaking. It made me smile a bit, knowing he was just as nervous as I was ,if not more.

Anyhow I didn't say anything, as I wanted him to continue.

"I know you may not feel the same way as me, but in all honesty— I'm fine with that." he stated, having a prominent blush on his face while still maintaining eye contact. Damn that felt real. "I just... I just want you to know how much you mean to me."

"That was good, Tanjiro." I said, my face heating up faster than I would've liked.

He smiled at me while still holding my hands. It wasn't for me but hey, at least I heard those words coming out of him.

"Now go tell her." I told him, still relishing in the feeling of (more than casual) handholding with him.

"Guess what, I already did, (Y/N)" he said while bringing one of my hands to his lips, kissing the back of my palm like the gentleman he was.

"Wha—" I was shook. He liked me?! "Boy, you better  not be playing with me."

I looked like a nervous wreck right now, and for a moment I opted to pull away for a bit, maybe even to run away and escape whatever delusional place I entrapped myself in.

"It's okay if you don't like me back. I understand." he said, that sweet smile still on his features as he let go of my hands altogether.

I laughed while blushing madly. I kissed him on the lips right then and there. It was a stupid thing to do, I know.

"Well, the feeling is mutual, Tanjiro." I said while hugging him.

Unbeknownst to us, there were three pairs of ears that were listening since the start of the conversation.
