This is the story of Tohru Honda's younger sister and her journey through Fruits Basket. Sora is fifteen years old and about to start high school. Along with Momiji and Hatsuharu Sohma. But we're getting to far ahead of ourselves. Lets go back to the beginning where Sora was living in a tent with her sister. Where she first meet the Sohmas with her sister.

Sora's POV

I'm putting on my middle school uniform as my older sister Tohru went outside. I smile at our mother's picture. Though Tohru was always closer to mum, I still miss her dearly. As I hardly remember our dad. In May of this year, our mother, who had been raising us all alone, was killed in a car accident.

We were shipped off to live with our father's father, our grandfather. But currently he is renovating his house. So that his daughter and her family can move in with us. He went to live with them why it was being done. There was no room for us at their house.

As a result, we are now secretly living in a tent in the woods next to a cliff. I can't say that our life has been an easy one. But that's okay. One of our virtues is that no matter what happens, we will not be discouraged. We learnt that from our mum.

"Sora, we have to go or we'll be late" Tohru tells me. I smile and exit the tent. She pokes her head in and smiles at mum's photo. "Okay then, Mother, please watch over things today, too. We're off" she tells mum's photo. We both talk to it, her more then me though.

We start our walk to school and I notice something through the trees. "Hey Tohru, look" I say pointing. "There's a house over there" I state. We head over to it and notice painted stones of the Chinese Zodiac on the porch.

"How cute" Thoru says smiling at the stones and I nod my head in agreement.

"Hello, this is a surprise" a guy says and we look up to see a young man with a newspaper. "We don't get many young girls wondering around here" he tells us.

"Good morning sir" we say and bow politely.

"We shouldn't of been looking around without permission" Tohru adds.

"It's fine" he assures us. "I'm just surprised two teenagers like yourselves would find this place interesting" he states.

"We really do, especially the zodiac stones" I tell him.

"They're adorable" Tohru adds.

"Yes, they're a favourite of mine to actually" he tells us as he kneels down beside them.

"Except it looks like another set without the cat" we tell him.

"The cat? Oh I see, you are talking about the old Zodiac Folk tale" he says with a smile.

"Our mother would always tell us the story" I tell him.

"It was our favourite story when we were little" Tohru adds. I remise about one night mum told us the story. Tohru and I vowed to be cats from that day on.

"If he heard that story, I wonder how he would feel?" he mutters.

"Who?" I ask curious.

"No one, so year of the dog. That makes me feel so much closer to you both already. After all, I'm a..." he starts to say. A bag lands on his head silencing him. "Ow my head" he groans.

"At least attempt to control yourself. Hello Miss Hondas" Yuki Sohma says. "I hope my cousin here, has not frightened you" he tells us.

"Wait Sohma, why are you here?" Tohru asks as we bow in greeting to him. "I mean good morning" she says.

"Hello" I say with a smile.

"What have you got in there a dictionary or something?" the man asks Yuki.
