Lady Alicia: Merlin Fanfic

Alicia was a simple seamstress by trade. Until she fell for a Knight of Camelot and him her. She goes from being a simple commoner, to a noble woman. All because they fell in love and started courting. Does she have what it takes to live as a noble? Will their relationship last? Or will a certain new comer win her affection? Lets find out together.

Alicia's POV

I sigh as I look out the window. It's been a little over a year since I moved into the castle with my boyfriend Sir Leon. We've been courting nearly two years. And recently got engaged. But then he had to leave straight away on a mission for King Uther. It's been two weeks since I last saw him. I miss him terribly.

But I also miss my old life. Yes, I was a simple seamstress and had very little. But life was peaceful. And I miss being around my old friends. The noble women don't really accept me. As I was born a commoner and will always be one in their eyes. The only one who seems to like me is the Lady Morgana. She and her hand maid Gwen are my only friends in the castle.

"What troubles you my lady?" Gwen asks as she joins me.

"He's not back yet" I state. "He said he would be back in time for the tournament" I tell her.

"Perhaps his been delayed, I am sure he is alright" she assures me. "He is one of the finest knights" she states.

"That is true" I agree. "So what are your plans today?" I ask her.

"Well Morgana already has an outfit picked out for the start of the tournament tomorrow. And I am on my way to meet up with Merlin" she states.

"Merlin?" I ask confused.

"Arthur's new man servant" she clarifies.

"Oh yes, I heard he saved Arthur's life the other day" I state. "Seems a poor reward becoming a servant. No offense, it's just you know what Arthur is like" I tell her.

"I do and none taken" she assures me. "Anyway, have a good day" she tells me. I nod my head and she leaves. I return to my room and start to sew a new dress. It help keeps my mind off of Leon and what danger he may be in.

(Next day)

I sit with Gwen and Morgana as we wait for the three day tournament to begin. "Knights of the realm, it's a great honour to welcome you to a tournament at Camelot. Over the next three days, you will come to put your bravery to the test, your skills as warriors, and of course, to challenge the reigning champion, my son, Prince Arthur. Only one can have the honour of being crowned champion, and he will receive a prize of 1,000 gold pieces" Uther declares.

"It is in combat that we learn a knight's true nature, whether he is indeed a warrior or a coward. The tournament begins!" he announces and the crowds cheer. I honestly don't get the appeal of this tournament. Hell I wasn't even going to come. The only reason I was before was to support Leon. Who isn't even here, but Morgana asked me to come and I can't say no to a friend.

Guards take Arthur and the other knight's capes, and they put on helmets. The crowd cheers and Guinevere whoops. Arthur and the knight fight. Arthur wins and the crowd cheers. I clap politely.

(Time skip)

It's now night time and I am at the feast. Celebrating today's winners. I stand with Morgana and Uther. As he greets the winning knights. "Knight Valiant, may I present the Lady Morgana, my ward and Lady Alicia" he says.Valiant bows to kiss Morgana's hand, then mine.

"My ladies" he says.

"I saw you competing today" Morgana states.

"I saw you watching. I understand the tournament champion has the honour of escorting My Lady to the feast" he says.

"That's correct" she tells him.

"Then I will give everything to win the tournament" he tells her. She smiles and nods to him, he nods back. He leaves us.

"I think you have an admirer" I whisper and she laughs lightly. Arthur joins us. "Prince Arthur" I say with a curtsy.

"They all seem rather impressed by Knight Valiant" Morgana tells him.

"They're not the only ones" he states.

"You're not jealous, are you?" Morgana asks teasingly.

"I don't see there's anything to be jealous of" he states and leaves us. As Morgana's smile drops. Gwen joins us.

"Could Arthur be any more annoying? I so hope Knight Valiant wins the tournament" Morgana states.

"You don't really mean that" Gwen says.

"Yes, I do" she says and leaves us.

"Should she not be supporting Arthur?" I ask Gwen.

"They are always fighting over something, it'll pass" she states. "Do you want to meet Merlin?" she asks. I nod and she leads me over to a guy with dark hair and bright blue eyes. He's cute. "Merlin, allow me to introduce Lady Alicia. Alicia this is Merlin" she says.

"A pleasure my lady" he says.

"Please call me Alicia" I tell him. "How is it being Arthur's servant so far?" I ask.

"He doesn't make it easy. Lucky I'm a fast learner and have a friend like Gwen" he states.

"She is an amazing friend" I agree. "Her and Morgana are my only real friends here" I admit.

"Really?" he asks surprised.

"Don't let the dress fool you, I am no high born. I am only here as I am engaged to a knight of Camelot. Otherwise I would be serving drinks like you two" I state.

"No, you would have made the dresses for all the ladies here" Gwen states.

"You're a seamstress?" Merlin asks.

"Yes, I was" I tell him.

"You miss it" he states.

"I do, but I can't change" I tell him. "I'm gonna go see if Prince Arthur has heard from my fiance. Enjoy the feast" I tell them and leave.

(Time skip)

Arthur hadn't heard from Leon. And it's now the final day of the tournament. Arthur will be facing Knight Valiant. Who Merlin claims is using magic and is cheating. No one believes him, even though he produced the head of a snake that is identical to the one's on Valiant's shield. I personally would have forbid him from using it. But like I said, no one believed Merlin but me.

I sit with Morgana as Arthur and Valiant begin the final battle of the tournament. Arthur knocks Valiant's helmet off. Arthur removes his helmet and they both pull down their mail coifs. Valiant knocks Arthur to the ground and steps on his shield. Valiant disarms Arthur, but Arthur catches him before he can strike. Valiant pins Arthur against a wall, but Arthur shoves him off.

Suddenly snakes come out of Knight Valiant's shield. The crowd stands up in surprise. "What are you doing? I didn't summon you!" he exclaims shocked. I frown, if he didn't summon them. Why did they appear? I look around and spot Merlin near the stands smiling triumphantly. My frown deepens.

"He is using magic" Uther states.

"And now they see you for what you really are" Arthur tells Valiant. Who chuckles. He orders the snakes to kill Arthur.

"Arthur!" Morgana shouts. She grabs a the sword from the knight sitting next to her and throws it to Arthur. Who catches it, swings at Valiant and then kills the snakes. Arthur disarms Valiant and runs him through. Valiant drops and the crowd cheers. Arthur slaps Merlin's shoulder on his way out of the tournament grounds.

(The feast)

I'm at the feast. I smile as I watch Arthur enter with Morgana. Both look very happy. Though it doesn't last long. I have no idea what they were arguing about. But they both stormed away from each other. I laugh, it's like their brother and sister. The care for each other one minute, then get on each others nerves the next. I didn't stay long, before returning to my chambers and call it a night.
