Jeanette Oak, better known as Jean Oak. She is Gary's older sister. She is fifteen, like Brock. She started her journey five years ago. Before Flint abandoned his family and Brock became gym leader. She started her journey with a Squirtle and won the Kanto League, though she decided to give up Pokemon training after that. She started training as a pokemon ranger and has even started her own nature reserve to help treat injured pokemon and release them. She has decided to go home and start a new journey. All she has is an egg and a young bulbasaur she rescued from an abusive trainer. Who is now in jail. Anyway, when she arrived back in Pallet Town she decided to visit her grandfather and little brother. That is where this journey begins.

Jean's POV

I smile as I over look my home town. "Well this is it Bulbasaur, my home town. Hasn't changed much" I tell her. She smiles up at me and I readjust my hold on my egg. "Lets go" I tell her and set off down the hill. She follows me. We soon reach my grandfather's lab. "Grandpa!" I call.

"Jean!" he exclaims as he appears. He hugs me. "How lovely to see you my dear" he states.

"Great to see you too" I tell him.

"Jean!" Gary cheers as he appears.

"Wow, you've grown Gary" I state.

"It has been five years" he reminds me."I start my journey tomorrow" he states.

"Awesome, what pokemon you gonna choose?" I ask him. As we all head to the lounge for some hot tea. Bulbasaur laying beside me on one couch. My grandpa and brother on the other across from us. My egg on the table.

"A squirtle, just like you" Gary tells me.

"Oh gonna follow in my foot steps huh?" I ask him.

"Yep, I plan on winning the Kanto League. Just like you did" he states.

"Ambitious, I wish you and your future partner the best of luck" I tell him.

"You managed to do it" grandpa reminds me.

"I did nothing, it was my pokemon who did all the work. I just helped them train and become the best version of themselves" I state.

"How is the reserve?" he asks me.

"Going good, all my pokemon have settled in well. They help train and protect the pokemon there. Some even help me heal them" I state. "I recently saved this egg from poachers" I add gesturing to it.

"I've never seen one like that before" Gary states.

"Yes, I can't wait to see what it hatches into" grandpa states.

"As long as it is happy and healthy, I don't care what it hatches into" I tell them.

"What brings you back to Pallet town?" Gary asks me.

"I wanted to be here to see you off on your journey. Also I thought I should go on another journey" I state. "I know the basics of pokemon healing, but I want to learn more. So that I can help more pokemon" I tell them. "So I am gonna visit everywhere pokemon center and visit every pokemon healer in Kanto. To learn from them all" I explain.

"Now who is ambitious" Gary teases.

"Do you have any of your pokemon with you?" grandpa asks me.

"Nope, just Bulbasaur and the egg. I left my others at the reserve with the other staff" I tell them.

"Are you gonna stay for a while?" grandpa asks me.

"I am sorry, I am just passing through on my way to Viridian City" I tell him sheepishly. "But I am staying the night" I state.

"We can leave together tomorrow morning and travel to Viridian city together" Gary suggests.

"Sure, I can give you some tips if you want" I tell him.

"I'd like that" he tells me.

"Be sure to go to bed early tonight, both of you" grandpa tells us. "I'm gonna go check on the pokemon" he adds and leaves.

"So did you catch your bulbasaur?" Gary asks.

"Sort of, I saved her from a bad situation and her former trainer is now in jail" I state.

"Jail?" he asks shocked.

"Lets just say he wasn't a very nice person and never took care of his pokemon" I tell him. "I know you will take good care of all your future pokemon" I state and take a sip of my tea.

"Any advice about my journey?" he asks me.

"Train all your pokemon, rotate them and take your time. There is no need to rush things" I tell him. He nods his head.

"I've missed you" he tells me.

"I've missed you too" I tell him with a smile. "How's Ash?" I ask him.

"Ok, I guess. He starts his journey tomorrow too" he states.

"If he is anything like the Ash I remember, he is gonna be up all night and be late" I tell him.

"Yea, that sounds like Ash alright" he says laughing. "And there is four of us starting tomorrow. So if he is late, he won't get a pokemon" he states.

"That'd suck" I tell him and he nods his head in agreement.

"Why did you stop?" he asks me. "You won the Kanto League, you could have joined the Elite Four or battled them. Then face the champion and become the new champion of Kanto" he states.

"I could have" I agree. "I still could" I tell him. "But on my journey I discovered something more I care about then winning battles. I found my passion in life and you will too" I tell him. "I know right now you dream of becoming a pokemon master and one of the best in the world. But you may find something you enjoy more" I tell him. "Be sure to continue to learn on your journey, investigate different areas involving pokemon. You may find your future lays beyond battling" I state.

"I'll keep that in mind" he states. "You know the who town is rooting for me, they believe I have what it takes to go all the way. Like you did" he tells me. "I don't want to let my fans down" he states.

"They don't matter" I tell him and he looks at me surprised. "What matters is you and your pokemon. You all do the best you can and if you lose. That's ok, you all tried your hardest and I'll always be proud of you. So will grandpa" I state.

"Thanks Jean, I will remember that" he assures me.

"You had better, otherwise I will come and kick you into shape" I tell him. He chuckles and nods his head. We made dinner together and grandpa joined us. He tells us about a pikachu he'd caught a few days ago. How shy and stubborn it is. I'm sure with time it will be a loyal and confident pokemon. It just needs the right trainer.

Anyway, after dinner Gary and I washed the dishes. Before calling it a night. Luckily my room is as I left it. Bulbasaur sleeps beside me on my spare pillow. While my egg rests in it's incubator on the bed side table. I can't wait for it to hatch. I drift off to a dreamless sleep.
