Pain. That was all Josie felt as she was impaled by a Berserker from the back. Blood spurted from her mouth as she was thrown to the floor. Liam slid towards her before she could hit the ground.

"JOSIE!"

The girl looked up into his tear filled eyes, her chest rising and falling unevenly with her slowing breaths. "You- You're gonna be okay! Just hold on!" Liam said, sobs building at the back of his throat.

"I promise, Josie, we're gonna get you help!" he continued. Josie shook her head, smiling softly.

"Liam, it's ok."

Liam let out a choked sob as he cradled her body, shaking his head furiously. "Liam, ju- just listen to me. I love you, okay? I love ev- every single part of you with every single pa- part of my heart. Never forget that. I love you, Li- Liam Dunbar."

Tears filled the boy's vision as he croaked out his reply. "I love you too."

Josie smiled before she drew her last breath, her body going limp.

It felt like time slowed as Liam howled, alerting everyone remotely near them. Liam Dunbar had just lost the love and light of his life.
