"I love you," Lydia said. Lola froze, her eyes widening. Lola had gotten her heart broken before, and it had taken months of Lydia asking Lola out until she finally agreed.

"You don't have to say it back. I get it. Take your time, okay?" Lydia continued. Lola nodded slowly as she cuddled back into Lydia. The strawberry blonde tightened her arm around her girlfriend's waist, letting her eyes flutter closed.

Lola hadn't slept a wink all night. She was thinking. Her feelings were all over the place. The memories of her old heartbreak haunting her thoughts. She kept repeating the same sentence over and over again in her head.

Lydia isn't him.

As Lola made her way to school the next day, her heart felt like it was beating as fast as it could possibly go. She took a deep breath as she reached her girlfriend's locker.

"Morning, Lyds," she mumbled. Lydia shut her locker, reaching forward to peck her lips. "Hey, baby," she said excitedly. Lola took another deep breath as she looked up to meet Lydia's eyes.

"You know what happened with my last relationship," she started. Lydia nodded, furrowing her eyebrows.

"I keep telling myself that you're not the same as him. And it's true, you're not. You're amazing, Lydia. You're sweet, funny, and so goddamn gorgeous," Lola expressed, making Lydia blush slightly.

"You've been so patient with me, and I know it's hard to be with someone that is so closed off. I was scared of falling in love again. But I really fell for you, Lydia. So what I'm trying to say is..." she trailed off, searching Lydia's eyes.

"I am so in love with you, Lydia Martin."

The strawberry blonde wrapped her arms around her girlfriend's waist, kissing her. Lola's arms found their way around Lydia's shoulders as their lips moved in sync.

Lydia pulled away slowly, pressing her forehead against Lola's.

"I love you," she whispered. Lola smiled, pulling her girlfriend into a hug. "I love you more," she said breathlessly.
