Chapter 83: An unwanted vacation

A few months passed once again and it was finally winter. Nothing interesting happened at all other than that I received a letter in the mail from my doctor. It informed me that my medication treatment wasn't working like it should, so while they were going to change it up, they wanted me to stay for a few weeks to a month in a psychiatric ward. I didn't want to, but I started to think about how far I had come. I stayed on the medication for a few months already, so I knew that I had to do it. The day I was supposed to get admitted to the ward was colder than usual. I woke up before my alarm and sat there in bed. I didn't want to get out; I wanted to stay right next to Chi and nowhere else. Chi then started to roll around before he sat up and ran his fingers through his hair before he put an arm around me.

"What are you doing up already? You still have a couple hours before we have to get up." he said tiredly.

I sighed before I said quietly, "It's nothing; I'm just...I don't...I don't want to go."

He rubbed my side with his thumb, "It'll be alright, hun. Just think that it's going to help you even more. It's safer for you just in case you have a negative reaction to the new medication."

"Well yeah, but they didn't have me go to one from when I was first put on this new stuff."

"The other medication was not as new as the stuff they're going to put you on now. You're pretty much a test subject now."

I grumbled about it as I leaned towards him and laid my head on his shoulder. I whispered, "I don't want to be a test subject." I paused as I started to feel choked up before I added with my voice wavering, "I'm scared of what could happen."

"Any normal person would be, but you will be alright. You'll be surrounded by trained personnel, so they'll be watching you to make sure that nothing will happen to you." he comforted me. "You're so strong that you'll get through this. I know you will." he kissed me, "I love you." He then pushed me away from him a little so he could look at me as he said, "Now, let's get a little more sleep before we have to get ready to bring you to the ward."

I sighed as I began to fix my blanket, "Fine." I said under my breath.

Once we were both lying down, he put his arm around me and cuddled me until we both fell asleep again. It was a short while before we were both awoken by the alarm clock. Chi was first to get out of bed before I got out and got ready. I took a little while longer in the bathroom since I wanted to stay at home longer. I guess that I took so long in the bathroom that Chi knocked on the door.

"Are you done yet, kitten?" he asked in a warm and careful tone. I let out a sigh as I looked up into the mirror since I was standing by the sink. Since I didn't respond, he asked in a somewhat worried tone, "Are you okay?"

I turned for the door as I picked up the small backpack that had my toiletries and unlocked the door before I opened it. As soon as I opened the door, I could tell that he was relieved to see that I was alright. "Yeah, I'm just trying to piece myself back together." I looked down, "I want to get better, but I just don't want to be away from you or the kids; especially you. I'm sure that if you weren't always by my side, I wouldn't be moving forward."

He gave a slight smile as he took a step forward and put his arms around me, which I then wrapped my arms around him. "I don't want to be away from you either, but it has to be done. It's for the better of things, ya know? You are healing and you're almost there, just a little bit longer."

"Okay." I replied in a solemn tone.

He let go of me and took my hand, "Good, now let's get going. I have your bag already in the car, but I don't know if you need anything else."

"I just need my phone since they're allowing me to have it." I said.

"Do you have a charger?"

I nodded my head, "Yeah, it's really short though. It can't be more than a few inches."
